PDM200 Fact Sheet

Hi Fellow Omnipodders,

I’m sure most of you know by now that the new PDM is available from Omnipod for preorder to be shipped out June 1st. The upgrade price is $149.99 and must be paid at time of preorder. In speaking with the Omnipod Rep today I managed to get him to give me the insulet report that went out to employees. The big improvements are as follows:

  1. Large Color LCD Screen with bright mode activated by key press
  2. Improved data download capabilities through USB port via Abbott’s CoPilot software for both PCs and MACs (USB cable included in upgrade kit).
  3. Food library and BG history are included in menu options, not hard keys
  4. BG Enhancements include: a test strip port light activated by soft key, customized BG tags, BG reminders in 1/2 hour increments, and tags for low/high BG, tags for BG up to 2 hours after test
  5. More durable unit with replaceable screen
  6. Power and home buttons have been combined into one
  7. All software capability remains the same

The upgrade kit includes:

  1. Upgrade brochure
  2. New PDM
  3. User Guide
  4. USB Cable for CoPilot download

From the information I have gathered it does not look like the upgrade kit contains the new soft carrying case included in the starter kit. I don’t know if this case is different from the original or now.

I’ve attached the fact sheet to this post for those who want to read the details themselves!

thanks for the info!! I think I’ll go ahead and preorder!

Great work getting the fact sheet (since it’s clearly marked for internal use only!).

Great work on this. However, I will add two items which may be helpful.

  1. The soft carrying case is included it says it on the memo you provided;).

Includes
o PDM
o Two pods
o Soft carrying case
o User guide
o Pod placement guide is integrated
into inside of Starter Kit box

  1. When you pre order they take your credit card information but will not charge your CC until the unit ships on June 1. At least that is what they told me. Perhaps ask when you place your order.

thanks for the info…

It looks like there are two “kits” starter kits and upgrade kits.

woops! The guy on the phone emailed it to me with no problem. I hope I don’t get anyone in trouble for posting it! I was more interested in the actual info, didn’t read the stuff on the bottom.

  1. The soft carry case is in the new start up package, not the upgrade package.

  2. I didn’t have my credit card so they wouldn’t take my order, they didn’t actually tell me when they would charge it, just that I needed my card to order so your info about charge on shipping is probably correct!

I’m guessing in point 2 that the ability to download to co-pilot will only work on a mac if running a windows OS. Everything else looks great though.

I called them again today and they said that in the upgrade kit there was a soft case as well. The person actually put me on hold and asked someone. i hope she was correct seems silly to sell a pdm and not have a case to protect it. Especially with the possible static electricity faults which I got during ski season.

That’s good to hear. It does seem silly not to include it. I thought that maybe it hadn’t been changed so it wouldn’t be included but it’s good to know we’ll be getting a new one!

Seth- Don’t know if you’re aware of this or not, but one of the features of the new PDM is enhanced ESD protection. I’m surprised I haven’t had that problem with the cold dry climate here, but apparently enough people did that it was addressed in the re-design. Cheers, Tony

Tony,

that is excellent but two times this past winter if I had the pdm in a fleece pocket without the case and was wearing wool short…pfft…error.

So that is great to now!!!
