Please help, I poured Soda on my Freestyle Libre 2 reader

God, look I know I shouldn’t drink soda but there’s a way bigger issue on my hands
I was gonna drink a cup of soda and accidentally poured it all over my Freestyle 2 Libre reader and I wiped it off completely off of the screen and body of the reader, great, now, for some reason the button doesn’t work, I have NO IDEA why! the touchscreen works fine but the button is fluked and I, just need some serious and QUICK help

I used to maintain electronic equipment. Sugar sweetened soft drinks are the worst enemy to switches and circuitry. I suspect the button, not the switch is gummed up. The only possible remedy I can think of, and this is a make or break fix, is to turn the reader off if you can, put it in distilled water shaking vigorously and then dry it off best you can. Then put it in a coffee can of plain, white raw rice for at least 24 hours. This may destroy it completely or solve the switch trouble.

Another way is the use of isopropanol alcohol. This can damage any plastic parts, so would need to be tested on a few spots.

I don’t have good feelings about either thing I suggested, sorry.

Hey Luis, are you sure the button is gummed? I mean it does click, makes a clicking noise, and, if it helps, it worked for a bit (I’ll give as much detail as possible here: so I plugged it into my PC (no idea why) and it magically worked?! 1 min later it didn’t) so yea, clicks fine, doesn’t register my input, Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I’ll keep that make-or-break solution in mind but I probably won’t try it.
Also, it smells “funny” on the strip hole and the charger hole, idk how to describe the smell, it’s old plastic-y, I guess?

I agree with Luis3, Turn off and remove batteries if possible. Bathe it in plain distilled water, dry it with a towel, and leave it in a bag surrounded by rice.

Uh, yea, hey everyone, I’m back after a couple of hours, I left it in the air for some time (and by air I mean I left it where there is breeze) and boom, it came back to life, the button response time is like…1 second now? but hey, the fact that it still fuckin works makes me beyond grateful so, yea, that’s it, thanks to those who replied to my post, I appreciate it.
