Hi all,
I use Novolet family of disposable insulin pens (Actrapid and Insulatard). With usage, bubbles gather inside the pen, which I try to remove by priming when the bubbles are many. But I notice that all the bubbles don’t get expelled while priming but the insulin does come out in free flow after priming. So are there issues here and is there a way to expel all the bubbles?
Small bubbles are normal, when you take a shot your pen is sideways or pointing down. If there is a small bubble it floats to top, your pen is never completely emptied. that is why they don’t empty all the way.
I had the same concern in the beginning until I realized it did not matter
Thanks for the information Alan. Using syringes is not an option as they aren’t as convenient and portable as disposable pens though they are much cheaper.
I find that I can’t expel small (really small ones) but of late the bubbles of somewhat larger size that were easily expelled previously aren’t getting expelled. That was why I was concerned about it. But since the insulin flow is unobstructed and with your input endorsing that it doesn’t matter, I am relieved. Thanks
