so I've been on my pump for 3.5 years and couldn't be happier. I have, however, always done my sites in my stomach or hip area and I really think it would be good to do them somewhere else for a change. I don't think its become a problem yet as far as being very insulin resistant as I haven't needed to up my insulin amounts and have been doing better in the last 6-8 months then I ever have but I think it would be good to give that area a little bit of a break. I am on a Medtronic pump and use the silhouette sites. I love these sites and do not use the inserter for them cause I prefer to do them manually even though I started out using the inserter. My question here is can anyone give me tips on putting my sites in my arms or legs? I am pretty sure I can do my legs fine on my own but since I put them in alone I'm a little unsure of how to do my arms! I also don't have very much extra fat on my arms or legs even though I am over what I want to weigh because my arms and legs are not where my extra weight goes. Any tips are welcome!!
Obviously you are using a traditional pump. I use the omnipod, so I can't tell you how to insert an infusion set in those areas, but if you can make it happen, they work great. I can't tell a difference between my arms and legs and my abdomen/back. I even put a pod on my calf a few times. I enjoy the pod being on those because they are more comfortable; I assume though that the more tube you have to use the less comfortable it might be. Either way I think it is worth doing whatever it takes to make it happen.
Yes I am using a traditional pump :) Thanks for your reply!
