Pump tip

My Endo gave me a little tip for when you are out and about without your insulin pump supplies and something goes wrong with your pump.He said to take a syringe (hopefully, you'll have that on hand)and use the insulin reservoir to draw from.

I thought that was a very good tip since I don't always have my pump supplies with me on short errand runs but, I always have syringes with me.

I used to do this all the time when I was using a Novopen. When it stops working, there is still at least 8-10 units left.

Yes - I always have a few syringes in my meter case for such an emergency (which I hope I don’t have to use).

Yep…I always carry a syringe in the zipper compartment of my purse. I’ve only had to use it twice, but was very glad I had a syringe with me. And it sure beats carrying all the pump paraphernalia around in my purse!

I do this too. Though have rarely had to do it. I just keep the old reservoir that I pull out which has a dab left in it and then just keep it a week or so then switch it out. That way I always have insulin on hand.
