Riding in the TOUR DE CURE!

Thank you, for taking the time to read this letter.

I am writing to spred the word that on June 14, I’m riding the Silicon Valley Tour de Cure. It is a 72 mile ride that raises money in the hopes of finding a cure for diabetes. I have a personal connection with this disease. I have an older brother that was diagnosed at the age of 7, I was diagnosed at the age of 16 and this past month my niece, Justine, was diagnosed at the tender age of 13. As a brother and uncle, a swimmer and a coach with diabetes, I have chosen to take action and raise money to fight back and find a cure for this disease.

Diabetes has not prevented me from achieving my goals in life, but it has shown me humility, courage, passion and inner strength. I have learned over the years that every moment of every day is a gift. My goal is to make a difference, if not for my self then for the millions that are diagnosed every year. I ride for my brother, Tommy and his family. I ride for my niece Justine, to show her that nothing can stop her from achieving her goals. I want her to know that this disease is merely a hurdle, a challenge one of many to come in her life. I want to show her that it’s how you step up to this challenge that will show her true colors. I want to give her the feeling that she can achieve anything she dreams.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I hope you can support me and the thousands who have chosen to ride. I only need to raise $150.00 to be eligible to ride but hope to surpass that amount by much more.
