Rocky Mountains (low valleys and HIGH peaks)

Ok I had a terrible 24 Hours. Got into some Easter candy and crusty bread. Plus a middle of the night Pod change. I am finally coming back down.

On a up note I saw my Endo today and he was very pleased with how I was doing and still amazed at my numbers from Dex. I showed him a couple Flatlines and he said those were probably better than a non-diabetics!

I really need a new camera phone!

I must say, not bad for a bunch of candy and some crusty bread. Looks like you took a trip down the 50s too.

I say, hide that candy stuff or send it off to work. Out of sight, out of mind. Then tomorrow youll be right back to normal. Actually, its kinds cool that we can have an off day, go to sleep and effectively hit the reset button (sometimes).

Congrats on the Endo appointment Between that and the A1c, Id say you are doing better than a non-D. Great work!

ugh. middle of the night pod changes plus high blood sugar is the pits! It frustrates me like nothing else! I hope it all irons out soon!

The candy was at work! The gal whose office it was in was out for the day so I just kept taking it. So bad I know.

I have told my Endo about this group and how much it has helped, although I don’t think he quite grasps that we are all doing so well. I think there is a large percentage of his patients that are not well controlled.

He has praised me over and over for being able to accomplish what I have. Even when I say the Pod and Dex have made a huge difference he reminds me there are plenty of people with the same tools and not the same control.

Again I have to thank this group (Club) for showing me these are achievable results and I don’t have to settle for post meal spikes of 180+

Kate do you get highs before and after a Pod change? I always have issues after. I try bolusing before the change, I try bplusing after the change, and I try both before and after.

They just got the office depot order in at my offices and yes, I am now correcting lows with Peanut M&Ms as well as Twix. I know how you feel. =^)

Hopefully, shes back in the office today to give a litttle help with resistance. Really, its not so bad and your trends are fantastic so dont even sweat it.

usually after. I take at least a half unit at every pod change. Sometimes it can take a while for the new site to “take”. Sometimes it seems that the basal is okay, but boluses are ineffective. It really frustrates me at 2:26 am when I should be sleeping

Oh, I also don’t remove the old pod right away. I usually wait ~30 min so that any residual insulin can absorb and I don’t get a puddle outside my skin. It’s not always a possibility, but it usually helps the highs.

Well, if you colored between the lines, isn’t it by definition a flatline??? LOL! Seriously, glad you made it though the night, or we’d have a Kavli crisps thread running! :stuck_out_tongue:

Those flip-flopping lines are uncomfortable, aren’t they? But candy and bread are OK if you don’t do it too often, and it reminds you to stay on track the rest of the time! Better luck tomorrow!

Right on, Seth! I get the same kind of praise, and although I like it, I don’t think I should be so exceptional. Before I started low-carbing and using the CGM, I ALWAYS peaked over 200, and thought it was OK. If you read mainstream diabetes literature, there is usually no mention of controlling peaks, just advice about eating a healthy diet (with lots of whole grains, ick!) and exercising. Of course, without the CGM, it’s hard to know where you peak, and everyone should eat as healthily as they can and exercise to their ability, but who’s talking about actually CONTROLLING BGs? No one.

hahaha! too funny!

I am glad you made it Danny! I think the worst part of being is sick is not being able to post Flatlines and being stuck in the Rocky Mountains!

Pitas, the lot of Ya! LOL.

Completely agree Natalie. Well put.

Onesaint asked me how I do it. Well this time, I’m showing you how I DON’T do it.

The high point is 300 and the low point is 51. But I really was neither that high nor that low – My meter showed 168 when the sensor said 250, and 128 when the sensor showed 51. So although I was higher than I like to be, it’s really a picture of a wonky sensor. I don’t know about the Dex, but the Medtronic just likes to do that from time to time. I really hope that the Enlite Sensor, which is being held up at the FDA at the moment is more reliable!

yep, Dex does it too :frowning:

I’m glad to hear that it wasn’t as bad as it looks. Hope it all normalizes today! And, it looks like you had about 12 flat hours in there - terrific!

You crack me up, kid!!!

I’ve had bunches off “off readings” lately. Often enough that I haven’t really been posting pics too much?

Isn’t that what Rocky Mountains is for? C’mon, you hafta post some – or else the rest of us think we are being held up to an example of perfection, LOL!!
