I'm having such a bad day...and it's soo not normal... My blood sugar keeps going really high and then dropping until it's low.. It seems to drop pretty fast though and my hands feel like they have been shaky all day. Earlier when it seemed to be dropping fast I had a spoon full of peanut butter it went up to 110 then 1 hour later dropped again. It doesn't seem to want to stay up today, I don't understand what's going on, and I'm kinda nervous now.
We all have days like that sometimes. Sometimes there are things that we find are responsible for it. For a person on shots it could be: impending illness, stress, temperature, insulin gone bad or infusion problem. If you can figure out that one of those things is responsible, great. If not just treat what is going on:
I would recommend more frequent testing of course, then keep your carbs low to minimize spikes. Also if you keep going low when you correct, use a smaller correction dose. I would treat lows with glucose tablets not food as it is faster acting, dosage is more reliable, and you won't overdo.
Just keep a watch on it and you should be fine.
I agree things change on a daily basis and sometimes for no reason what-so-ever-. The other day I was running my basals as low as .550 an hour with a carb ratio of 1:18...I've NEVER had that low of basal EVER. Then a few days later it's stablized and I'm back to my norm. I agree with Zoe, frequent testing, try to stay low with the carbs to minimize the spikes and treat with glucose tabs much easier NOT to over do it that way.
the same here up and down
