Royal Pains

So did anyone see this show tonight? One of the more realistic talk about diabetes I’ve seen in a TV drama. They actually discussed hypoglycemic seizures, retinapathy, neuropathy, and DKA caused by steroid use. The only flaws I found were that they never actually said “type 1” although that was likely the case and the DKA might have happened a bit too soon, though the timeline wasn’t clear.

Anyone else have a take on it?

Darn, nobody else saw it? I was looking forward to your take on the diabetes story.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I didn’t see it.

Yeah, sorry, I don’t watch hardly any TV. I got into a trashy fantasy book series and am in the sunroom reading it when I have free time. What is the the show about? Occasionally we’ll try to DVR a show.

I have enough free time for compulsive reading and television watching! The show is about a “concierge doctor” who provides personal services at the home of his (rich) patients in the Hampton’s (Long Island). I’ve only seen it a couple times (the only things I watch regularly are the science fiction shows on now: Eureka, Warehouse 13, Alphas and Haven). But I think the character with diabetes was just another one of the patients and probably won’t come back. (so you’d have to see a repeat). It upped my opinion of the show, though, to see diabetes so well portrayed.

We have “On Demand” too, so a lot of new shows are just around for a while.
