Next week I'll finally get a new computer. I decided to go with a mac as I am so hating windows, etc. I wanted to ask for those who have the Dexcom G4 if they ran into any issues with installing the program, etc. I do have a backup windows computer in case it is hard to install on a mac.
Studio, the analysis software for the G4, is not compatible with the Mac. You would need to install Windows on a part of your Mac hard drive. I know people here have done that successfully.
When I got my first Dex system in 2009, I decided to but a Netbook style computer and dedicate it for downloading my Dex and reviewing the charts. The computer I bought new only cost about $300. I didn't want to fool around with partitioning my Mac hard drive and installing the Windows software.
I hope that DexCom will release a native Mac software version but I won't hold my breath.
I can always then put the program on my PC as I really dont wanna partition the hard drive as I am trying to get away with windows. I could partition it but again dont want to. Thanks!
Ditto with the Mac. I bought a small Windows laptop when I got my Omnipod to run their software. Next month I’m getting a G4, but now find it also will not run on Windows 8.
Might try running Win 7 on the laptop that currently has Win 8, but I don’t know.
Would be nice if the software for Omnipod and G4 were on speaking terms!
Even with Bootcamp or through a virtual machine Dexcom studio won’t run on a Mac. The drivers for Gen4 are not compatible so the receiver won’t download. Keep your PC. I can’t download at home only at the endo office or from work.
sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I was dealing with a few things at home. and I finally got my mac. I tried to send you a message but i guess we have to be friends first.
Oh my goodness, I'm so glad you posted this comment, because I was about to buy Windows and try to do the virtual machine thing. I won't waste my money now! Dexcom should really make this clear on their website!
