I am currently making as series of works to create awareness around some of the complexities involved in managing diabetes. As a part of this I am working with a filmmaker to create a series of short films to show the world what its like to take on the conscious role of your pancreases. I am a graduate student at the Royal College of Art and the film will be shown at an exhibition this summer and then act as a public engagement tool.

I am probably too old, too. (Although I was just diagnosed T1 in Jan at the ripe old age of 31 But I am really interested in how this goes for you, and would love to kept updated. I am training for 3 bike races in the coming months and have had to contend with all the differences in training with diabetes. Sometimes it feels like a science experiment. What makes it even more difficult is that it feels like there just wasn’t enough information out there in how to do it safely, etc. A lot of my doctors could not even give me specifics, and just told me to try different things and see what works (seems to be the story with the T1 in general!) I did get Sherri Colbergs book, and that has been helpful. So an exploration like the one you are embarking on can really be helpful to a lot of people! Thank you and best of luck with it!
