Sensor that didn't stick replaced!

Glad to hear from support our two sensors with NO sticky are being replaced, whew, what a relief...

still waiting for our skin tac from amazon, but will try it with our next change!

I also love tegraderm. Had a similar problem with it not sticking and then folding over on itself. I put the tegraderm over it. I have heard skin tac is good too.

Miss Natalie,
Be sure when you place the skin-tac, you avoid the area where the sensor will pierce the skin. If the skin-tac gets on the sensor probe it will render it useless. I mark where I will be placing the sensor on my body with an ink pen then I mark the area where I will place the opsite flexfix, then I apply the skin-tac(avoiding the sensor area)then place the flexfix, then place the sensor and insert. when it is all set I go back and wet the white adhesive tape of the dexcom sensor with skin-tac lightly. This has netted me 12-18 days of wear from the sensors. You can also go back and reapply the skin-tac over the sensor if it begins to peel up.

Maybe I'm just strange but... I'm still on my first G4 sensor and I'm at 13 days.... seems just as sticky at the 7+ sensors to me.

I agree with Parrformance - make sure if you apply skin tac before inserting the sensor you avoid the area where the sensor tip goes into the skin. Since I am lazy and do not want to take time to mark (I use to, but found this works just as good) I will now insert my sensor to clean skin and use skin tac after - just take the skin tac pad, I will fold it and press it against the dex tape (after I have clipped the transmitter in), letting the skin tac soak in. You will see it - the dex tape kind of changes color, usually the skin tac pad is saturated enough to be almost drippy too. I will also use a blow dryer on low to help it dry - only takes 20 to 30 seconds or so, usually I then apply skin tac once more and I have not lost a sensor into 3 weeks of wear. Occassionally, the edges have started to peel - you can reapply skin tac or I have also used mastisol - super sticky - I use a q-tip to "paint" the mastisol on, I can get it under the peeling tape and also on top of the tape also. Just make sure it is dry before clothing may brush against it! Another hint before you insert, make sure the skin is totally dry - sometimes it seems to take forever for the alcohol to evaporate, but if you don't wait for completely dry skin, you may have trouble with getting the tape to adhere. Good luck!
