Good morning all, I have a quick question for anyone use has used or is using a product call Skin Tac. I just purchased a box of this because I am going away on vacation next week and I thought it would help keep my pump on while I’m in and out of the ocean. Here’s my question, how sticky does it get and how difficult is it to get off. Should I be buying something to help remove when it’s time to change my pod. Any help with this would be great. Thanks
It gets more sticky then with out it, so helps keeping the pump and sensor on. It is not hard to get this off. I use the wipe off wipes just to remove the dark dirt from the skin.
It will help with keeping pump on, but consider using extra tape on it if you plan to spend more time in the ocean or expect daily pump changes.
I love Skin Tac! Very occasionally, my pod will partialy come unstuck with it, but for the most part it holds for the full three+ days. I live in South FL and sweat and swim and bump it. On my belly, it pulls off painlessly. My thighs and arms require a bit of grimacing to remove it, but nothing I cant deal with. It sometimes leaves a little residue. I have read that nail polish cleans it up. I don't worry about it. Have a great trip!
I use the liquid skin tac and it does help to secure my pods. I also use adhesive remover before I pull it off. I have taken pods off without it but it's easier and less irritating with the adhesive remover.
Have a great vacation! :)
Thank you for the ideas, I guess I will bring some sort of remover just in case.
Whenever I want to make sure it's going to be REALLY sticky, I make sure to prep the area really well with alcohol beforehand, and allow that to dry first. Then apply Skin-Tac liberally and apply your pod when it gets it's tackyness for the full affect. I was getting rash/bumps when I would just grimace and pull it off though, but now I douse it with alcohol when it's ready to come off and it just falls away. Have a great vacation!
Yes, and also rewipe the adhesive area after you place the pod. That has helped a lot.
I apply the Skin Tac directly on my pod, this way I don't get too much extra skin exposed to the glue that collects dirt and clothing fibers.
I use a alcohol wipe, let it dry. Then use a skin tac wipe a little larger than the area for the pod and let it almost dry. Place the pod and secure with two strips of 1"X4" OpSite Flexfix tape. One across the nose just above the site window and the other across the back. This way it doesn't collect or hold water. Use another alcohol wipe to clean any excess from around the area. I have never lost one from the water, but have sweated a few off in the Florida heat.
