SkinTac or other adhesive

Hi, can any experience user can share how you use this kind of adhesive with your omnipod? You put the adhesive to the pod or skin? How you people do it. Yesterday I gave my first Spinning class (Instructor) and was a disaster! the the pod adhesive began to peel off, rigth now I refuse to loose a new pod, so its attach to my abdomen with medical tape.

Have you heard of Mastisol skin glue? I used to use this when my sites (old style with tubing) wouldn’t stay in because of sweat during the summer months (gotta love the south!). My doctor ordered it for me, so I’m not sure where to get it. I’m sure you can google it. The pod’s glue has worked well for me so far, so I haven’t had to pull it out.
All you do is take the a q-tip and soak the tip in the glue (it is a yellow liquid) and apply it on the skin. But put only enough on to hold the pod, not a big area, or else your clothes will stick too. Then, wait until the spot is tacky, then put the pod on. It should stay put until the end of your wear time, if not, just apply a little more under the edge that has lifted up.I will warn you though, while it is still wet, it STINKS. Since you don’t need much, the bottle will last you forever!!
Then, when you change your pod, you’ll need to use alcohol or something like that to get it off.

When I am going to do something hot and sweaty, I will dot the edges of my pod with Skintac. Don’t move until it dries. And use alcohol to remove.

When I wear the pod on my back it normally gets ripped right off. I find that if I use a Skin-Tac wipe… it stays on very well…
First I peel the paper from the pod and then go around the edges (on the sticky side) with the wipe. Then after I place the pod, I let it sit for a minute or so before inserting the cannula… then I just go around the edges again with the wipe, but i try not to get too much on my skin because it is sticky…

Hope that helped a little!

You can order the wipes here from Animas… but I know they sell them other places over the net

Hi all. Thanks everyone for the help. I just went on and order Skin-Tac. Just a few hours ago, I change my pod, It was very uncomfortable with the tape and the skin was starting to get irritated. So I change to a new site, that was the back of the arm. Lets see how it goes for the next tree days. I hope it works well. I will update later this week when I receive the Skin-tac. I hope the Skin-Tac can kept the pod on its site when giving a Spinning class.

Thanks again.

Hi everyone! I used the Skin-tac yesterday on mi pod. I gave a 1hr Spinning class and the pod didn’t peel off. It was perfectly attach to my skin, so apparently the skin-tac works. Just to let you all know about my experience.

I use only skin prep by smith and nephew, never had a pod fall off, other than wake boarding at 25 miles per hour

Hi Daniel, how you use the skin prep? just apply to skin, let it dry and then put on the pod?

Did you have trouble removing your Pod after using the Skin-Tac? I have problems with my pod staying put when exercising in the hot and humid South!!

yes, and then I wipe the adhesive after it is on, I don’t know if it really changes anything, but it seems to “seal” the adhesive.

Its a bit hard hard just peeling the pod of using Skin-tac. I used a cotton saturated with baby oil. I just rub the cotton on the pods white tape around, be sure to get the it really saturated with baby oil (the pods white tape), let it soak for a few minutes and will come off easily and with much less pain.
