Quite a while before i was actually diagnosed as a type one diabetic, i was shopping at a local Bartel Drugs and i came across this Glysomed hand lotion. The only reason that i bought it was for the fact that it came in such a cute little green bottle. Little did i know that it was actually found in most pharmaceutical stores under diabetic care…
My point is that while i was in the hospital after my diagnosis, my mother had found this lotion in my bag and wore it throughout my stay. Now every time i get a whiff of this lotion, i think diabetes and my four days in the hospital after being diagnosed. Ive jokingly called it my personal diabetic scent.
Anybody else have a certain scent that brings them back to some part of their diabetic lives? (other then the annoying stench of insulin?)
The smell of alcohol prep wipes remind me of the time I passed out when I was working in the office before they released me to work at home. I woke up in the hospital with my boss standing next to me. To this day, even though she has left the company, she checks on me.
I don’t find the smell of insulin annoying, actually.

oh yes! do check his page. I still want that shirt
You know, when I was first diagnosed I had to spend about a week in the hospital. One of the nurses that was on regular rotation on my floor wore this perfume like all the time…to this day I’m not even sure what it’s called. But every time someone wears it around me I immediately go back to my long stay at the hospital and new diabetes.
