Ok
I need some ideas of what to have as a snack on the drive to work.
It is about a 45 min one way. I work the 3rd shift 10pm to 6:30 am.
We eat dinner around 6:30 so the kids can get to bed at good time.
I leave at about 8:45. My first break is at 1:00 am.
So I am going a long time with out eating. Having some to eat in the car works out good for me.
I know I need to stop running thru the drive thrus on the way to work.
I also like to have something to much on on the drive home. I stop and get something to drink after work.
I have been racking my brain for ideas but have not come up with anything.
It does not help that I do not care for raw veggies.
any ideas?
Thanks
You may not like this answer, but most accidents are caused by people being distracted by driving by doing things like eating and drinking in the car as well as texting or talking on the phone. Is there any way you can have your snack before you leave for work, or get there a bit early and eat it before you start?
As for snacks, if you don’t like veggies, some ideas are cheese, cold cuts, and nuts.
A lot of 100 calorie packs are on the market that seem to work pretty good for me. Or packages of cheese (or peanut butter) and crackers.
Meal replacement bar? its better then drive threw food thats for sure… and i worked 3rd shift for 7 years it was hell on my sugar levels
A multi grain sandwich with lots of veggies, wheat crackers with cheese/peanut butter ,sugar free yogurts/drinks could be some of the options.Stop the car for the short break while having this
I eat peanut butter crackers mini paks they are packs of 4 instead of 6 they only have 20 carbs and work great to tide me over especially since I am on an ambulance all day for work it is fast and easy and no mess involved. others i try are:
String cheese
pretzels
dry cereal in A baggie I use multi grain cherrios
ohh and gogurts you know the little yogurts in a stick pack no spoon needed.
Lately, I’ve been keeping a container (11oz.)–which is a bad thing–of Emerald brand Cocoa Roast Almonds (dark chocolate) in my car to snack on as needed. I prefer the individual serving size packages (18 almonds/18g) of those almonds (100 calorie pack/4 carbs/8g fat/3g protein) as I don’t have any will power when it comes to snacking. Indeed, I just ate approximately 3/4 cup of them as I reply, blowing my fasting bs for sure after eating a good dinner followed by exercise. #&*$! So…go with the individual size serving snack packages.
Just found a new snack…Pecan Pie flavored pecans… delish! Too slow to prevvent lows but just for protein. Also like the Wasabi flavored almonds.
