OK, cute story: in the mornings on weekends, I usually get up at the same time as my boys and I’ll put a movie on in my bedroom so they can snuggle in Mommy’s bed and watch it while I shower & dress and Daddy does horse chores. Today’s feature was The Wizard of Oz. When I was done with my shower, I came into the room to check on them and found Eric lying on the bed with his hands covering his face, turned away from the TV, and looking distressed. I figured he was having a low and got out the kit, but the reading was normal - over 100 and certainly well within his range. Couldn’t figure out just what was going on. That’s when I realized that the movie was at the scene where Dorothy first confronts the Wicked Witch. He wasn’t low–he was hiding from the scary witch! Parenting a child with diabetes sure can mess with your head, because OF COURSE it was the Witch that was the problem!
HAHA that’s a great story! Yes, Eric is Eric even with diabetes! And witches can be scary!!!
I love hearing stories about Eric
He’s a kid with real personality! His latest thing is to pick up anything that remotely resembles a phone and say “'s happ-nin?” (Eric’s dad ALWAYS says “what’s happening” when he takes a phone call, without fail.)
