Spring infusion set

I was wondering if anyone has used the new infusion set by Spring?

I liked the idea of the needle retracting by itself and wondered if anyone that uses the infusion sets with Animas Ping. If its less painful my 7 year old would really be thankful.

I can’t say anything towards Spring (never heard of it!) but if your little one is having trouble with site injection pain, maybe talk to their doctor about some emla cream? You put it on and cover it up for an hour and it totally numbs the area. I use it when I change my dexcom sensor because that needle is a beast!

What do you cover it up with?

I use Nexcare Tegaderm Transparent Dressing, you can get it at most pharmacies near where they sell bandaids and such. It’s like a little square of clear plastic with adhesive all around the edge, it just goes on like a sticker. I usually put it on and then end up totally forgetting about it…:slight_smile:

I just read some online some people use saran wrap. Thanks for the suggestion, I called her doctor and got some emla cream.
As for the Spring Infusion set, from what I read it was just approved in the US this year so its really new here. I really like the idea of having a spring loaded device that does the injection and retracts. I think some of her pain is when the needle is in her for a few seconds.

thats a good idea thanks…I was trying to get a sample from Spring but they are not even returning my call. Can companies give samples like this in the US?

I wanted to give everyone an update. My daughter has now used 5 samples of the Spring Infusion sets and so far she loves them. She was never able to do her own set change with the Animas set but has done 4 out of the 5 changes herself with the Spring. She has only tried 5 sets so I hate to say to much but she has not had any pain with these sets and that is unheard of with her old sets. I will say the set is a little bigger and we had to switch to using Skin Tac in place of I.V. Prep to keep the sites on but for me that is minor if the set reduce pain etc.
