Starting over

i was diagnosed 5 years ago with type 1. out of the blue. no family history.

for these years i have been nothing but fearful. my life has changed dramatically from very active...biking, climbing, hiking, yoga......to short dog walks and some stretching:(

a few months ago i took control, realizing that my doctor was making some pretty bad choices with my healthcare. i cut my lantus dose nearly in half and almost tripled my novolog dose. since then my lows are fewer and further between, and my fear of my disease has lessened.

i met this afternoon with a diabetes educator (again, after 5 years) and feel more energized to learn how to control my bgl's. a lot has changed in the treatment of (ME) after 5 years...lol it felt good.

im reaching out, looking for more people who have this disease. i'm not alone.

in addition to type 1 i have thyroid disease, celiac, and gastroparesis. the dance is intense, but i want to learn it.

i love my feet.

thats it in a nutshell......

Very strong. Very hopeful. I wish you courage and strength. And love, laughter and happiness.

You have come to the right place for support! I have learned so much here.

Congratulations for choosing to take control of the Big D.

You are NOT alone!

Congratulations!
Treatment has changed, too, over the past 5 years, and the amount of support here is tremendous! Go for it. Don’t settle for half way.

I’ve got thyroid diease & gastroparesis also. Fun combo, isn’t it! You’re not alone.

Kudos for taking care of yourself! Knowledge truly is power & we’ve got to learn all we can.
