Supplements?

Are you on any supplments to help your body stay healthy in the face of T1 and all that it entails?

I was always weary of shelling out additional $$$ on top of all I spend insulin, strips, etc., but I recently decided to give them a go. I started taking an Alphabetic and an Omega 3 pill daily about a week ago, and have actually felt better than usual over the past few days. It's probably the placebo effect, but I'll take feeling better any way I can!

On the advice of my father/doctor I take a lot of supplements.

Daily I take: fish oil, calcium citrate, multivitamin and vitamin D3. I don’t think they make me feel better nor do they help with my BG control.

I’ve been taking 4000 IU of vitamin D3 every day. I’m not sure how much that is in mg…

No supplements here, but a lot of fruits and vegetables. Maybe I should ? I don’t know what I’m missing if i don’t take some …

The only supplement for D is Alpha Lipoic Acid and while some don’t see a difference, I have. Leveled right out. Other than that just the usual, Calcium with D, One a Day for women, sometimes Fish Oil, and baby aspirin.

I take a fish oil supplement that also has added D3. And B6 and B12. The B vitamins help me with carpal tunnel. And actually, my doc even recommended fish oil for the carpal tunnel. Other than that, I eat a super healthy, balanced diet…fruits and veggies, nuts, fish, low fat dairy, buffalo meat (low in fat, high in protein), etc.

I definitely take supplements, not necessarily for BG help, but more so just for general health and wellness. I take a high potency multivitamin, fish oil, vitamin C, and a baby aspirin. Like everyone has mentioned, I’m also thinking about taking vitamin D3 as well. Of all of those, I believe the fish oil is the most beneficial, especially for the heart. I usually take at least 2000mg of omega 3’s per day from fish oil.
