Hey all! So I’m wondering if there is anyone else out there with T1D and PCOS who’s been trying to conceive with no luck or have had luck? I’ve lowered my A1C from ~13 to 7.9. I know it’s no where near where it should be, but slowly but surely it’s getting there!
Hey- congrats on lowering your A1C so much!! That is amazing :) I was also in a similar situation, out of control for years with hardly any periods and a PCOS diagnosis. I was told once my sugars normalized the PCOS might resolve itself but no such luck. I worked really hard and also got it down from 13 to 5.7 in about 6 months with the help of a pump and cgm (and serious motivation!) I started metformin but still needed some fertility treatments. I got pregnant in four months but it ended up being a chemical pregnancy...but now fingers crossed I am pregnant again and so far so good! Hope this helps and keep up the good work- it is exhausting isn't it? :)
It really is! I've been on Metformin for about 6 months? I also just started the sensor through Medtronic in February; it seems to be helping quite a bit. It's been only a year since I received the PCOS diagnosis and I'm still struggling to deal with yet another "illness" added to my large heap of crap.
Fantastic you're pregnant once again! I wish you the best of luck!
Thanks so much! I really know the feeling. There is a connection between diabetes and PCOS, not just type II so it's more common than you think but I can definitely relate to the frustration The good news is there are lots of things you can do if it becomes difficult to get pregnant so hang in there!
