You t:slim users probably all got notified a couple days ago recommending you get a new update for your pump. The update includes a new Max Basal setting that prevents you from setting a temporary bolus of 100 u/hr… actually, you can set the max basal to whatever makes sense for you. When you install the update, the software makes a guess at a good figure based on your various patterns, and the guess (0.9) was good for me. I don’t know if users had actually run into a problem with basaling too much insulin, but I could believe it.
Anyway, when I did a set change tonight, I first updated my pump. It worked as slick as fried bananas. The info from Tandem told me to expect to wait half an hour while the update was being installed, but I don’t think it could have taken more than about 7 minutes. Then I had to do the set change, and all went fine. I had to reconnect my Dexcom G6, which took a couple minutes of wait time, but I’ve had that before. This is only my second pump update, and I was glad to see it came off so well. Tandem provided all the necessary instructions in an email, and downloading the update to my iMac was no problem.
Just thought some of you might like to know it worked well for me.
I have no idea whether you are in the United States or an international user. I don’t think that there is anything new that has been made available to US users who up to date with Tandem software.
The max basal feature was introduced in 2020 with the 7.4 software update. Maybe it was just a reminder that you had never done the update?
Nothing new has come down in quite a while because the FDA is processing so slowly due to Covid. The next update pending approval is the Mobile Bolus one. But that’s been expected “any day” now for like a year
Ooops… The tone of the email I received from Tandem, and the fact that I’m receiving it two years after starting on this pump, led me to believe this was a recent event, rather than something that came out two years ago. I apologize for announcing it so dramatically.
Should I have gotten a notification from Tandem before now? (Or DID I, and didn’t notice it? That sounds more likely!) Anyway, I’ll check on things more frequently from now on!

Totally no need to apologize! We always want to be kept abreast of new developments! It’s no surprise you were confused, as many of us have been confused by this particular update. In-house at Tandem, they’re basically treating this update as housekeeping and unimportant. There was no fanfare or grand announcement, and this conversation has popped up a few times before after a random emai
I just happen to stumble across it when I was linking someone to the patient portal. I called support to see what it was. They basically told me it’s not worth much effort to install. It’s mostly cosmetic changes that lead to better international translations, such as swapping text confirmation messages for “X” and “✓”. And yes, the Max Basal setting, but that isn’t useful to anyone ruining Control-IQ as it only works for temporary set basals when Control-IQ is off.
