Tandem x2 update for G7 = when?

There is a post on the subreddit r/TandemDiabetes by ahncall on 10/16/23, that states: “I’m an Endo and have confirmed this with multiple other Endo’s who are being told the same thing. The Tandem G7 integration will require NEWER, updated versions of the Dexcom G7 that will INITIALLY will only be available through hardware (aka DME) suppliers. Eventually, this newer version of the G7 will be the only G7 available anywhere….”

He includes a video explaining this and a screen shot of the current box and the new box for the updated G7. There was very little difference…just a new line of text on the panel with the details.

The first comment on his post was another Endo confirming this.

Thanks for the great information.

I found the website where they talk about what you said for others to see themselves

https://www.reddit.com/r/TandemDiabetes/comments/178q4q6/tandem_g7_integration_will_require_updated_dexcom/

And the direct link to his very nice videos

Thanks. This is going to be quite a mess for a while.

FYI - I am not an Endo. That was a quote from the beginning of Dr Ann’s initial post.

Yes but the Person in the video is an actual endocrinologist Dr. David Ahn from CA working at Hoag. I just checked my dexcom g7, none of them are from the new ones. The one on the left in the video has an expiry date of 30 November 2024. The newest one I have has an expiry end of August 2024. I guess the new batch should be available soon. Probably they’re simply delaying the update so they don’t have useless sensors being replaced. I’m not going to use g7 until the integration anyway  and I hope they will replace these that I’ve.

The limited launch software update already was sent to the selected users 2.5 weeks ago. And the rest like me were not even notified.

The public release is planned end of November, but there’s no guarantee. I’ve spoken today with tandem support.

I got really disappointed when they knew I wasn’t selected and pretended as if they didn’t know anything. Later when my pump failed and I asked about that as well I finally got an answer :unamused:

Just wanted to let everyone know.

I got a limited launch invite today. I thought it was already completed. I don’t have any g7 sensors yet anyway. I’ll upload it and at least see how it works w g6 and I’ll switch to g7 when my current supply runs out.

I’ve received the same email yesterday. I called them yesterday and was told that within a week I’ll receive the training video and the update.
The most important thing is that you need the compatible g7 sensors on the box that has the underlined LBL code. All other g7s will not work with the tandem even after software update. Tandem has a special location on their website where it guides you to dexcom for replacement of your g7s that are not compatible. I had 9 of them and requested and they’re on the way from dexcom, I guess I’ll have to return the incompatible ones back once I receive the new ones. I also called my DME and changed the orders to g7. Even if they’re not compatible at least dexcom is replacing them. Why in the first place there were different g7s produced? Reliability issues? Yes the update is allowing us to use g6 and g7s

I got my tandem pump updated last week. I’ll switch to g7 (newer compatible g7s) with the tandem on 11/23 when my g6 sensor and transmitter expires.

I received an email 1 week ago to get my upgrade. I downloaded the installer file but waited until I had a full cartridge and started the process.

I had a glitch at the beginning and had to quit the app and restart. The second pass I got all the way to the end and it hung again. I restarted the app and it said right at the start I was good to go. It makes me nervous. I don’t want to be without my T:slim X2. I need to change out to a G6 I have and my supplier will be sending me G7s next month.

My supplier, CCSmed called and and we updated my account and requested a new Rx from my endo. They called.me and told me I am all set. We’ll see.

The Tandem diabetes site for USA has an an update announcement in Patient Portal if signed in for update to Control-IQ v7.7.0.1 I recommend logging in to see if you are eligible to update. I have not yet received an email for the update.

I got the limited launch email November 13th and updated my pump. I was able to continue using my existing G6 sensor.

I got some compatible G7 sensors, inserted one and used the G7 receiver to compare it to the active G6. When the G6 expired, I attempted to switch to a G7. The pump needed yet another update but after that was done, I successfully connected to the already inserted G7. It will expire in 3 days and I’ll insert a new one.

Nice. Can I ask you what you think about the G7/Control IQ-combo so far?

There’s little if any difference in Control IQ*. My G6 vs. G7 comparision was different but when I added finger sticks, the G7 seemed to be closer to the BG reading.

*To compound the issue, my Samsung Galaxy S22 informed me that there was an update (to Android 14). Tandem support said don’t do that, t:connect doesn’t work with 14. All my attempts to delay the update failed and my phone updated to 14 anyway. Of course, I can’t remote bolus from my phone anymore but there are some other “strange behaviors” that I think might be related to 14, i.e. When the phone loses connection to the pump, it won’t recover when the phone is back in the vicinity of the pump. Turning off Bluetooth and turning it on seems to fix it (as does restarting the phone).

I upgraded my pump last week and I am waiting on clearance from Byram for the sensors. the software update was relativity easy.

I have been using CCSMedical, but will now switch back to Byram.
Last week they sent text msg to tell me to go to their site and authorize order. But no such option exists, although it shows my order is ready to ship (on 29th). After long hold, they said order is ready to go, on 3/29.

Again today I got same message, logged in, and still don’t see option to authorize. Waited to talk with rep, after 20 min hold, and was told it was set for delivery for 3/29.

What a waste of my time.

I plan to switch back to Byram for next order, which I liked better.

In past CCSmedical was great, orders showed w/o interaction. But recent issues like this, and terrible website, I’m moving on.

I get a dozen texts/emails from CCS every month, telling me it’s time to authorize. Yet I have never once been able to do it. So I can’t stop the notifications, because there’s no action for me to take. My supplies just ship without any interaction from me whatsoever. Which is kinda nice, but it also goes against the terms of my insurance. I think they’re trying to be easy on customers while LOOKING like their playing by the rules… but it just winds up being confusing.
