On one of my last posts I hinted that I would be teaching med students about diabetes. Well today was the day. I think it went well, I think they liked it but I don’t think anyone would come up to me and try to throw it under the proverbial bus either. We’ll just have to see what happens when we get the clinic.

Today was a pretty cool day. I love teaching and with being in med school I don’t get to do it anymore. Today was the one exception I can see for next few years. We had a clinical correlation about Type 1 Diabetes in class with a clinician presenting the case information, we had to go make decisions about what tests to order and make our lists of differentials… yadda yadda yadda… pretty easy when the first slide has “Fruity Breath,” “Blurry Vision” and “25 lb weight loss in 3 months.” So it was a solid morning of recovery for some and for the rest of us it was a good day to just sit and chill without having to think. After he was done with his clinical stuff I was able to stand up in front of the class and talk about my experiences. It was pretty cool and I tried my best to explain…
