Attempting to find some good in the midst of the bad news about the forum I did some searching for posts about Thanksgiving. Here’s some that I liked. Many are part of epic topics so scroll to the top if you have time.
Hello,
I am curious to know how many of you out there in diabetes land are going to watch what you eat on Thanksgiving day. Personally I am digging in, I will do a long increased temp basal, plenty of bolusing and frequent BG testing. Most of the time I eat low carb but on turkey day I just can’t resist!!!
Suggest to your mom that you make some of the goodies, giving her a hand. Then bring some alternatives that are low-carb, low fat, etc. Believe it or not, everyone may find that your new alternatives far exceed what you’ve been eating all these years. Take cranberry sauce, that good old Thanksgiving staple that comes in a can. It’s very high in sugar, very high in carbs, though cranberries themselves are a super low carb fruit. The stuff that comes in the can is quite blah as far as I’m concerne…
This recipe from @Gerri was mentioned in many posts
This is what I use. It’s like cornbread stuffing. I make the almond bread a day before so it drys out some. Or, you can cut into pieces & bake it in a low oven after it’s cooked to dry it more.
Almond Bread-- 16 net grams for the entire recipe because it has 17 grams of fiber.
1.5 cups almond flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract
4 eggs
(Optional for using for stuffing–1/2 tsp liquid Splenda I use Fiberfit from netrition.com–zero carbs).
Preheat ov…
I can imagine the delicious inspiration of this poem by @Miss_Miss
I wrote this poem today for some of my family that I have not seen in a very long time. It was to help them to understand the D part of my life. I was not sure if it would but to my suprise it did. Thought I would share it with all of you.

Those are some good posts. There’s no reason for sadness though. The internet is an ever evolving thing. People decide to stop paying bills for whatever reason, others pick up the slack. Fortunately we saw that coming and got ahead of it and created FUdiabetes.org where many of the members have already shifted to.. would encourage you to as well
Tudiabetes (in terms of the website) may be shutting off the lights but we’ve already created the plan for the community to live on…

I can’t afford to pay much attention to the food. It’s just another day, and my way of eating is much the same as any other day.
I get turkey sandwiches. The guys watch football and eat the sandwiches.
I eat the turkey in the sandiches.
