The Annoyance List

when ever i do something people don’t agree with they say “is your blood low?” why can’t they just say “that is stupid”

(Also, Anna’s not really my name. This is just the random name I use when I need to put a name on a website.)

ohh yeah how could i forget carb counting…ughh.

I actually squirted across the dinner table onto my husband’s arm. We were both horrified for a second and then we laughed like crazy!

Oh yes I to get the fireballs or "starbursts"as i call them when things get low - also blurred vision when things get too high !! once I thought i saw smoke when I was exercising + went to check out if somthing was on fire down stairs! - which it wasn’t - but disturbing ! yes !

Preparing a meal, getting everyone to the table with all the food hot and then, only then, remembering that you have to go test your blood sugar.

Getting a ‘Low Reservoir’ warning just as you’re about to go out the door. (Should I or shouldn’t I?)

Fishing the frigging test strip out of the frigging case.

Wasting a test strip.

Wasting two test strips.

Getting really low and feeling awful. Getting really low and being late for work. Getting really low and breaking my computer (thrice). Getting really low and getting fired from work for it (twice). Um, I’m sure I can come up with others, but I don’t want to belabor the subject.

Being $50,000 in debt (even though I had insurance!) for doctors’ appointments and hospitalizations.

Test strips that turn up everywhere.

Always needing a job with insurance – being unable to go hitchhike around Europe or something.

Wow, I’m being really negative today. Apologies.

I love all of these!!

I’ve been there more times than I would love to say.

What about taking a few bites of food then realizing oh wow… I didn’t bolus!

Ha…what about eating an entire lunch and feeling very weird and 2 hrs. later you are at 400+ and realize you forgot to take humalog w/meal! DUH!!! That was me today!

They say if you do it 3 times, it becomes a habit. I still forget to test or bolus … and it’s been almost 20 years already!

hahahahaha…17yrs. for me and I dont know how many times I have a brain fart like that.!

…into a friends face
ooops haha
pretty amusing though because they thought they would get diabetes, and of course because im so sick of explaining that its not contagious i just let them believe it
evil evil sophie

i dont bother with logs anymore…so bad! but i went to my clinic and the nurse asked to see it, and i said that it wasnt with me so she gave me a big lecture about it all
so i asked her if she keeps logs (because shes a diabetic also) and she said no haha
its such a hassle and i cbf really!

its a pain in the arse huh?
ive figured that most diabetics are the most mature, responsible people and they just seem to handle all lifes little worries easily and get on with it
of course im practically complimenting myself here too haha, but you get my point

well…

the biggest annoyance, is explaining the difference between type 1 and 2 and that you can not get better with just watching your diet!!!

not setting the needles of the finger prick at the correct deepness, hence the blood is not sufficient for a strip…so you start all over again

forgetting your cgm at your desk or in your bag…while you’re off to a meeting or any other place

and last but not least, bgl shooting to high if I do not get enough sleep :frowning:

Unsolicited advice, people who claim to know more than I do and feel the need to argue with me, pharmacists giving their opinion on my test strips, chasing highs all night long
OH!
And people like Bret Michaels going around saying that high blood sugar gives him the “stamina of a bull”. Wtf? hahaha

Bret Michaels getting BONKED on the head the other night because of that comment. His wig almost fell off…

my biggest annoyances would have to be when I inject in more sensitive spots, the bruising, and the way some people react when they find out I have diabetes
