The First of Many to Come

So a blog. This is a new experience and a new medium. We will have to see how it goes. Though I can not assure you of the quality of this blog, I am not sure I care. However, I do ask to keep all of your comments to a rating which you would allow your young children to read. That sounds so prestigious. Oh well. I guess I can start this off the same as one starts anything: at the beginning. Though I have experienced symptoms of diabetes for a year maybe two (I really couldn't tell you which), I was only just diagnosed with type one diabetes on February 20, 2013. This day is also my older brother's birthday, so it was quite a festive event. I have been using insulin pens around five times a day for the past three months. I am still in the honeymoon phase so my a1c is actually quite good though I expect that it won't always be as easy as it is now (not that it has been something that I would call a "fun" experience. On Tuesday, I got approval to get my insulin pump. I have been impatiently waiting on the call telling me that it has arrived. Which as some of you probably know, it is almost painful waiting on it when I know it is in the mail somewhere. I am beyond thrilled and can't wait to get started on it. So I will wait patiently (well impatiently) by the phone until it comes. Please comment for any suggestions or questions! Also I just started a picture "blog" of the diabetic part of my life on instagram. Follow me if you like : @diabeticme

“Quite a festive event” haha great story I really have to put my own together before I forget!! Thanks for sharing. Keep doing more blogs Jolynn

Jolynn, so nice to meet you in chat last night, I'm glad you found our 'family' ;)

Which pump are you getting? I remember the waiting for mine, it's excrutiating! I absolutely love it.

By the way, the entire site is PG-13, so no worries!

I think it's more PG than PG13. I have a 14 year old and we keep her at PG13 and, every now and then, we get surprised by stuff that makes me go "woah, that's PG13?"

LOL yeah, me too. Let's call it 'plus common sense' ;)

Praying your pump comes soon!!!

welcome,Jolynn, you came to the right place. we are all family :)

Thank you guys! Glad you enjoyed it.

Jolynn - welcome to the family. Its all good clean stuff here. People really do listen and help where they can. Talk soon no doubt.
