The Good and the Bad of Publishing a Book

I have ordered the proof (first copy) of my book from amazon.com, but it will not arrive until Mon, Feb. 22. The content of the book had blurry pics when first submitted. I sent amazon a revised PDF with upgraded pics (300 dpi). Barbra, my friend in Michigan, is doing all my computer work.

Amazon is not charging me anything up front, but it is progressing at a snail's pace. There are so many steps involved when publishing! I guess I can wait while knowing it is going to actually be published!

It will take 12 days for my first proof to arrive. When I reject that proof I will order the second one with the better pics (300 dpi). That will take another 12 days. Then when I approve of the second proof amazon will create a page for the book. That can take up to 15 days.

Sooooo, 12 + 12 + 15 = 39 days from now my book should be available on amazon.com. I think that will be Mon, March 22. One week after the Ides of March.

I will be doing a lot of thumb twiddling in the meantime. Lol!

Richard,
Now that we are in the wagon of getting the No-Sugar Added Poetry book published, I can definitely feel your pain!!

Hi Richard:

Thanks for the note about your book. Finally!! Your post was unique and Ha! Ha! Ha! How did you get those smilies on here??

Sorry what you had to go through with your book though. It sounds typical.

Anyway does this mean that:

  1. We can buy your book at a bookstore near us soon and hold it in our hands. (Autographed, of course  ).

  2. We buy it at Amazon.com and it gets sent to us.

  3. We just view your written work/photos on Amazon.com for a small fee.

  4. You deliver your book to each of us Personally and autograph it in front of us with photos, balloons, champagne, etc.

  5. None of the above cuz it’s a secret??? =)

Ahhhh! My good buddy Terrie! Thanks for your reply.

  1. Bookstores is an option but the books would be much more expensive there. It is much more convenient, and cheaper on amazon.com.

  2. YES! Buy on amazon.com and it will be sent to you.

  3. Viewing on amazon.com on Kindle may come later after I see how well it does with book sales.

  4. I love that idea!!! Each buyer would have to pay my travel, lodging, and champagne expenses. I would pay for the balloons and no charge for the autograph. LOL! When do you want me to be there???

  5. Tis no secret anymore.

NOTES: It is such a slow process. My proof will take 12 days to arrive. Then I make corrections in the pictures. They have told me many of them ae blurry. Then another proof is ordered, another 12 days. If the second proof is OK it will be posted on amazon for sale. Heaven knows how long that will take. Several weeks I think.

I was copying and pasting my post on several sites and was not expecting the smilies to show up here. Manny made the first reply and said nothing about it. Should I remove them?.

Hi Manny! The poetry book will be a treat! I am anxious to read it.

Always a pleasure to talk to you Richard. Hey, you know that I Love smilies. Put them on here anytime that you want do. Some other Folks do. It is artisically expressing a Person’s emotions. I get how you did it.

2. YES! Buy on amazon.com and it will be sent to you.

4. I love that idea!!! Each buyer would have to pay my travel, lodging, and champagne expenses. I would pay for the balloons and no charge for the autograph. LOL! When do you want me to be there???

WELL…that’s not exactly the way I had planned it in my head Richard BUT balloons can be expensive too, after all. Ya, well I was hoping that your autograph would be a no-charge. Feel free to pop over whenever your book is available to the public. (After I get mine). Or whenever. Have a Great day Hon!!
