This is some interesting news for PWT1D. It seems as though T1's continually produce beta cells but they are continually being killed off by the bodies' immune system. EpiVax a company in Rhode Island has been working on a way to regulate the attack using Tregitopes. According to this pr blurb Tregitopes act as a natural immune system "off switch".
While it is early days this approach to immune modulation gives me hope for a future without D. As a side note, the company I work for produces the peptides or "linear sequences of amino acids" that are used in this research. I'm pretty proud of that.
