Torn on which pump to go with

I am so torn in which pump to go with. I have narrowed it down to Animas and Medtronics. i’ve heard good and bad things about each. I was told that the Animas has a CGM that can be used with it. I can’t seem to decided as both have great features, etc. So I’ve been asking a bunch of people. Some say go with Animas while some said dont bother and I’ve heard the same with medtronics. Animas sent me info via mail asap while Medtronics hasn’t send me ■■■■. i’ve requested twice too.

So can you guys tell me your pros and cons if you are on either the Animas or the Medtronics. I really want to have a solid decision in 2 months (which is what I hope to be cleared for the pump).

I filled out some info online with medtronics and they called me back relentlessly til I called them back. I gave them all my insurance info and dr name and was told the would do all the work for me. They also have great online tutorials on all their pumps.

Had a Minimed, they broke constantly. Hated it with a passion, still hate it with a passion. But I do know some people like it if you use a lot of insulin (300 units). I use the Animas Ping now and love it. I have been with animas for about 9 years now and I have never had a problem with any of their pumps. They are just very user friendly, but if you need a pump that allows more insulin, the Ping is not of you because it only holds 200 units. Either way, it is a huge difference from shots.

Melody I wished they would send me info. I have the day off tomorrow so I can call and let them know I’ve requested stuff twice and have not gotten it yet and would like some as that will determine which pump I’ll go on. I could read the info online but I like having stuff in front of me so i can highlight, make notes on the side, etc.

Spenser, I am not sure if I’ll be using 200 units or 300. my pens are 200 units and last me a week. And I am looking forward to not doing shots anymore!!! I do not want to have to go back to 4 shots a day just to get on the pump. I did the 2 shots on the mix pen because I didnt think humalog and lantus isn’t working as a pair. Plus I wanted to simplify my life!!! Now I want to simplify it more by doing a pump where I push a button, change sites every 3 days, etc. A hell of a lot better than a shot. Plus I only have to carry my meter (unless I have to change the infusion site or fill the pump with more insulin). Other than that, I just want to get going.
