We are trying to find trusted news sources that we can monitor for interesting and important news stories with the intention of bringing them here for our members to read. There are so many great sites out there, if you have a favorite source please let us know.
I like DiaTribe. But frankly, I find a lot of diabetes news sources lacking, so I will be very interested to find out what are are considered to be "trusted" news sources.
I like diaTribe as well. It is written by PWDs, for PWDs.
I am skeptical of most news sources and stories about scientific studies. Almost all of these studies are funded by corporate for-profit interests. The principal study authors usually have extensive conflicts of interest that don't generally seem to even raise an eyebrow with their professional peers.
I especially dislike medical news stories that reveal the diabetes ignorance of the writer. If they don't care enough to get the facts right then I don't want to read anything they write.
Sometimes the the interests of PWDs and corporate interests align. When that happens, I'm more interested in the story.
I get email notifications of diabetes news from the US FDA "Diabetes Monitor"
I generally have more credible regard for the JDRF sourced news than I do for the ADA stories. I believe that the ADA usually points to stories about studies where the studies are laden with conflict-of-interest authors.
I usually like the quality of news when it faithfully writes a story that cites The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) as the source.
