Hello all. I’m considering switching to a Tslim X2. I’m currently using Animas Ping and I’ve built up a stockpile of Unomedical inset infusion sets. Do these work with Tslim? I know they’ve recently started using their own Tlock sets but are these the same, with just a different name?
They are definitely different. We started getting the old cartridges and infusion sets for TslimX2 when my son first started the pump. They switched us over to the new tlock last month and the old style tubing won’t connect to the new cartridges at all. I have no experience with Animas insets so I am not sure if they would fit the old or new.
Dealing with the same issue. I was told if your infusion sets aren’t labeled Tlock, they won’t work.
You can find the old Tandem luer lock cartridges on sale on eBay. I have had great luck with that form. Those cartridges will work with your infusion sets. Hope that helps
I get my Tandem supplies from Byram Healthcare. I don’t know if they use other suppliers or not. Byram will still ship you the old-style luer lock cartridges, if you specify that’s what you want. They’ll continue to offer them direct from distributors until supplies run out.

Huge thanks for that news. I had been getting t:slim cartridges from Byram up until a couple years ago, and was using luer-lock cartridges with Quicksets. But then Byram told me they could no longer supply the luer-lock cartridges and so I would have to change to the new proprietary Tandem infusion sets. My solution was to re-use my remaining stock of cartridges 2 or 3 times (for a total of 2 to 3 weeks per cartridge) and continue with the infusion sets that I greatly preferred. When I started running LOOP on an old Medtronic pump a year ago, the t:slim cartridge issue went away. But I thought I would be in for a very unwelcome forced change of infusion sets if I wanted to go back to the t:slim when their hybrid closed-loop firmware comes out next year. Now you’ve given me hope that they might not force me to switch to an infusion set that I truly dislike.
I’m sorry, but it’s a very slim hope. I’m going to reiterate that it’s only until their current supply of old supplies is exhausted. I don’t know how much of a supply is left. I’m only assuming that there is still some because I can see it as an option on the web order form still.
I personally made the switch to the proprietary t:lock a while ago, so I can’t speak from personal experience as to how easy the luer lock cartridges are to obtain. I do know there is no intention to manufacture any more.
If you really want to stay with the luer:lock, I would stock pile as many as you possibly can off of eBay and whatever else you can find them.
And infusion sets do evolve with time. Maybe it won’t be long before Tandem manufacturers one you do like.
I’m curious, what is so special about the Cleo’s? The t:90s are the only sets I’ve ever tried.

It’s QuickSets for me. The special property is the way the tube connects to the infusion set. At the end of the tube there’s kind of a donut shape that fits over a round post on the top of the infusion set, then you rotate the donut a small amount and it click-locks into place. To remove, you squeeze the sides of the donut and rotate a small amount the other way and it just falls off. I care about this because even with my old hands, this is easy to do anywhere I can reach with two or three fingertips, even if I can’t see it (like on my back.) I find it quite frustrating to line up and insert the infusion set connectors that have a needle that must be pushed straight into a small hole in the side of the infusion set. I mean, it’s ok if I’m looking at it on my belly, but around on my back where I can’t see it and it’s difficult just to touch it, I find it just too hard.
Now with the Cleo, there’s a needle to push in, but you don’t have to guide it precisely into the hole in the hub/post of the infusion set. You just drop the donut onto the post in 1 of 8 positions, then when you squeeze, the needle guides itself in the right way. I actually find that acceptable, though not quite as easy as the QuickSet.
If the 90 degree t:lock cannulas attach the same as the ones I tried a few years ago, there are a couple plastic prongs flanking the needle that are supposed to help line the needle up properly, but I still remember shaking with frustration after trying for 5 minutes to get it to connect high on my back in a hard-to-reach spot.

Interesting. David Burrin (an Australian at https://bionicwookiee.com/2018/08/31/insulin-pumps-in-australia-august-2018/ ) says that the t:slim is being introduced there with luer-lock connectors. I’m surprised they would do that if they aren’t making any more…
Animas Infusion sets
Hi do you need the Animas/unomed infusion sets by any chance? Thank you,

We Canadians still use the luer lock infusion sets with tandem pumps and various other pumps. You could try cross border ordering.
That sounds very helpful. Do you happen to know whether in Canada a prescription is required to purchase (t:slim) pump cartridges that have the luer-lock connector?
I can’t imagine you’d need a prescription. The trick would be to find a supplier that will ship to the US. We get ours from diabetesexpress.
