My name is Sandra and I am an undergraduate student in Psychology at York University in Canada. I have been a Type 1 Diabetic for 8 years. Diabetes to me was like having a full-time job on top of school, on top of my part-time job, and on top of having friends and dating. So diabetes has given me the chance to live life differently from those who don’t have it. I am certain that even within diabetes, many diabetics experience things differently.
Over the years, I have developed an interest in what its like to have diabetes and date at the same time. I have reviewed the literature on this and surprisingly, the literature is not much! So I have developed a thesis project which examines these social aspects of diabetes. More has to be learned about the dating experiences of diabetics.
I need your help!!! If you are between the ages of 18-27 and are currently dating and involved in a heterosexual romantic relationship, please take the time to fill out my survey. You’ll be asked questions about your relationship with your partner, some questions about your self and some about your diabetes. This study will not be possible without your help!
