Type 1 & tired ALL the time?

I have had type 1 ever since I was 9 & I keep very tight control of my blood sugars. But it’s like Im always tired. I could literally sleep my life away! I’ve had my thyroid checked and all other blood work as well and its all normal. Last A1C 5.6. The only other things abnormal w me is that I have a high resting heart rate in the 90’s and I stopped taking my birth control pill 6 months ago and have yet to have a period. But this tired syndrome has been with me for at least 10 years. Does anyone else feel like this?

Two things that come to mind are: exercise and diet.
When I'm not regular or balanced on both I feel more sleepy and tired.

Are you ok on those?

This is def true and I see where u r coming from. I watch what I eat and also watch portion size but ever since I got in a car accident in 2006 my left ankle has always hurt so i can’t really exercise except for bicycling which I do when the weather permits  it’s hot down here like 98 degrees today lol

I've been diagnosed with hypothyroid for many years. I never thought about it much and just took one pill per day.

I've recently read that thyroid meds should always be taken on an empty stomach, something I haven't done. I've also read that thyroid meds should be withheld for 12-24 hours before the blood sample is drawn. I now wonder if my thyroid meds are right. I also wonder how good the average endocrinologist is at treating thyroid problems.

yes, i'm always tired too...well, I get very tired, sluggish when my BG's fluctuate a lot, sometimes it feels like I've taken a sleeping pill, once my BG's come down, it goes away. Are you higher then normal since you started the pump? IDK if a 90 heart rate is considered high, is it?

That’s true. I don’t have hypothyroidism but I know that there are so many variations and range from severe to mild. And to be honest most doctors are quacks u have to search for the good ones lol I’ve had best luck with nurse practitioners who are usually more bedside friendly

Watch out for balance and quality when you eat besides quantity.
Haha, that's an excuse you lazy girl! (speaking about the degrees here)

Well I didn’t get any training when I got on my pump. She basically hooked me up and gave me some boxes of samples of novolog and sent me on my way. So I YouTubed it up learning and have been adjusting my basals every day. I have been staying low most of the time but not so low where its like dangerous. I feel most comfortable at about 80. I feel tired mainly right after I eat no matter what it is. It could be a light salad or a pasta dinner w chocolate cake. It’s like I eat and I gotta pass out!!! I went to the dr and they told me that a normal resting heart rate shouldn’t be in the high 90s but then again I could of been having that “white cost” syndrome and was scared lol

Lol !! Where u live Rick? Im in the Louisiana New Orleans bayou! It’s hot as Hell!!! Lmao!!! But yea i can’t lie most of the time im cuddling w my dog & cat like a coach potatoe. Or sunbathing by the pool! Lol! And sleeping there to hahaha

I'm often tired and have wondered if it's due to diabetes, too. I do find that when I exercise regularly (almost every day) that it helps a LOT. The hardest part of that is getting started, but once I do I usually feel like I have a ton more energy.

I noticed above you said you have ankle problems. I have ankle problems related to arthritis and gait (I have flat feet), and I can cycle without it hurting (though I can't because I'm visually impaired), but my exercise of choice is swimming.

They say if you really watch somebody doing sport and focus on his movements it's like you are doing a x% of that exercise! You could try that ;)

Yes I love swimming! And u r right. My hubby has been complaining about his 10 lbs weight gain & I think to help us both we r going to get a gym membership ASAP! Thankyou for the input.

Like my eye movements burn calories?? Lol!!! I was watching that show “taboo” & they had a guy with anorexia on there & couldn’t stop exercising all day long. And then when he was at work or something he would get on a stationary bike or squeeze his hands over and over. I was like wow this show is almost as good as “my crazy obsession” lol

Too bad I'm not living in the States. Taboo is a great show for sure! LOL

Well I’ve always wanted to visit Italy and my best friend Jennifer Schiro is Italian

Right now I'm in Santiago de Chile for a semester but if ever need something your italian D guide is here.

How much insulin are you taking? I have read some studies that some type 1s who don't take a lot of insulin are deficient in vitamin C. I was always tired years ago and the C really helped. Apparently C and glucose take a similar pathway into the cells of the body and if you don't take a lot of insulin (or have high glucose - which you don't seem to) you don't get enough C. It's an easy, cheap, and safe fix. Give it a try.

Thanks so much Rick!!

Hmm that’s interesting ! Maybe I should take some multi vitamins. But I do require a ton a insulin per day. Im looking at my pump and so far I’ve pumped 55 units via my pump if thats a lot??

De nada chica.
We should stop chatting in the middle of your post: I'm totally bringing this off topic!
