What’s Going On, You Say???
Me I have been a crabapple at home lately. Stress of not having a secure job is becoming a bit overwhelming. I took a break from sending out resumes over the holidays and have started again this week. Hopefully something will come through. I am sure my kids would love for Mom to get over her bad mood…
DFF I haven’t received any stories for the DFF contest. I am unwilling to believe that we as diabetics and diabetic families don’t have someone we depend on to share our ups an downs with? I know you have someone, just tell me about it! Don’t worry about the business end of your writing. (grammar, it sounds cheesey) Just do it. I, for one, would love to hear some inspiring stories and I am sure that I am not the only one. You can find out more about the DFF Contest here.
Kelsey She has had a lot of lows this past week. Weird drops at different times and it’s been a royal PITA. As you have read, I was making the assumption it was due to going back to school and the fact that she is working out with Volleyball a lot. Well, last night when I got up at 3am to test her, it dawned on me. We have been correcting for activity and I bet it has nothing to do with that. It’s not often, but every once in a while right before her period instead of dealing with crazy highs…she goes low. Mental head slap! Not that it changes much right now, but it does stop me from changing her Lantus ( and then having to change it back). Just goes to show you how much diabetes keeps you on your toes.
Team Type 1 (TT1) I received an email from Guy Mossman updating me on the video reel of the team training to get into the Tour de France. They have kind of blurred out all of the sponsors they haven’t secured yet, but they still need to get the lawyers to sign off on the whole deal. As soon as it’s done, he will let me know and I will re post it. I am following them on Twitter. You can too @TeamType1.
Marty I went to his school this morning to talk to his class about Diabetes. It went well, not a lot of questions…unlike last year. That might be a good thing though, maybe they are getting use to his taking his BS and shots at school. He is struggling right now, but has nothing to do with Diabetes. He isn’t getting his classwork done and coming up with whopper stories to cover his booty. No games or friends over the past week. Should be interesting to see if he earns them back on Friday.
Family Camp (New Zealanders Only) We are going to do our first Family Camp at the end of March. This is being put on by Diabetes Auckland Youth. It will be nice to go kayaking, swimming and playing with the family for the weekend and also meet other diabetic families here in New Zealand. The camp is very affordable and there are many activities that you can choose from. If you would like more information please contact Sara-Maria Broekhoff at youth@diabetesauckland.org.nz
