Since the omnipod is not compatible for mac users, how do you upload your results to your doctor? As of right now I type everything into excel. Is there an easier way?
Hi, nlabarbs, I have a mac and I use diasend. I upload my Omnipod and my CGM, you could also get parallels which is a Virtual Machine that you can put windows on to use the windows program for the omnipod.
hope that helps.
HP Stream 11. $200. Cheaper than the Mac software solutions to run Windows.
Diasend is free and parallels is $79.99 hp stream you would also have to buy a monitor.
I think Diasend is worth looking into as it is free and can be accessed from anywhere as it is in the cloud.
I really like Diasend. I started it less than a month ago.
You don't need the software to *download* the data. Just plug the PDM into something (e.g. your cellphone, or an iPad) with a standard USB 'micro' cable and wait until the PDM says the data is ready. At this point it is acting as a USB stick and the data is a long file name ending ".ibf".
The problem is that the file is in a format apparently designed by Bergholt Stuttley Johnson, but given an app (e.g. Diasend) that has the code to decode the format it can be brought in to any app. Since the format is an Abbott one I would guess that any app that can handle Abbott's glucose meters should work, at least in principle, not that I know of any app other than Diasend that actually handles any glucose meters at all.
We discussed it a while back and I started trying to decode the format (there was no documentation that I could find) but I gave up, and I think everything else did too.

jbowler are you meaning the hp stream? for plugging in to your cellphone or iPad?
I do not know of anything that will do that and download my CGM or pump.
you have my curiosity going now, not such a good thing. lol
I think I know what you are talking about, but will not work with an iPhone or an iPad. androids it can i believeThe PDM works fine with Android; I have a Sony Xperia Z and I plugged the PDM in (using a USB OTG cable; the Z doesn't have a female USB, just a micro-USB). Using File Commander I can see the data file.
There's no reason why this shouldn't work on an iPad either using the Apple USB stick adapter, however Apple don't allow the distribution of applications like File Commander so I can't test it.
This is moot, however, because you still need an app to manipulate the data; it's like having a slide without a slide projector, or a JPEG without an image viewer. diasend is such an app, but they don't have an app (as in iPad or Android, or Windows for that matter.) I guess it might be possible to use it via the browser. Hum. I'll give that a go.

That was quick ;-)
I can't even register for an account on diasend - their "registration" page doesn't work from Chrome! (I enter all the information and there is no "continue" button or anything; I did enter a "Good" password.)
Oh well. YAPoS.

I tried to register as a user on the Diasend site but I was
not able to. The only pump options were the Animas and Ping. Can anyone help me? Has anyone reached out to Insulet about this?
Don't bother complaining to Abbot. Your complaint will fall on deaf ears. Your Excel idea will work. I use an App called WaveSense. It is free, but like the Excel spreadsheet, it requires manual data input. I like it because I also can select notes and reasons (like "heavy exercise" or "miscalculated carbs") when I send the data in to my doctor. The app allows you to save the data as a PDM so it can be sent to your doctor's email or printed to hand-carry in.
Phmarb, I am not sure where you live but I am in Canada and registered international with diasend, I am on a mac and used Safari, I can download my omnipod and my dexcom both with no problems. I am unsure why it is not working or you but I would call Diasend for help if you are having problems registering. Good Luck
Hi guys! I know this is an old topic, but just wanted to weigh in. I’m a Mac user and don’t upload to my doctor at all. When I get to my appointment, the first thing they do is take my PDM and download the data onto their own computer at the doctor’s office. We pretty much have technical glitches every time, but I think part of it is that there’s just so much data by then.
In terms of looking at my own data, I usually just look at it right on the PDM.
It would definitely be awesome if they could get some software that was more accessible! Something web-based or maybe an app!
Hope this is helpful!

Diasend is the widely used cloud solution. Medtronic users can upload to medtronic.carelink, which is also pretty much Mac/PC agnostic*, and is actually pretty decent in terms of the variety of reports you can pull. My endo at Joslin can log into my account and see my reports if I have a question or issue without my having to come in, so that’s pretty handy.
*I say “pretty much agnostic” because they can get behind on compatibility with the latest Mac OS updates, largely due to having to get changes through FDA approval. I was unable to access it for several months at one point due to this.
Thanks, DrBB! I have not looked into this in so long. I will have to try it out with my Omnipod!
Thanks! I just downloaded it
Hi, I love to revive old topics! So I started Dexcom a couple months ago and was looking into this again. Diasend is actually the app that the Dexcom educator mentioned when I asked them about seeing my Omnipod and Dexcom in the same place. (Thanks again, @DrBB !)
However, the cloud-based integration of the Dexcom is not yet approved for U.S. users! So fun! But it was cool to finally see my Omnipod data.
I had looked into the Glooko app which I had heard about from several people, but preferred to find a free solution. After further research and frustration… I learned that the GLOOKO APP IS FREE FOR OMNIPOD USERS. I’m wondering why Omnipod never announced this. I think it’s a big deal. Here is more info: https://www.myomnipod.com/learning-center/download-software/download-glooko/
Just wanted to mention in case this helps anyone else!
Anyway, I’ve got Glooko now. It’s not exactly my dream and there are still a lot of workarounds, but we’re getting there…
Thankful for this forum! : )
Because Diasend isn’t yet compatible with the mobile version of G5, I used my receiver for two weeks before my endo appointment so that I could get all of my data in one place. Kind of a pain, but better than nothing. I use an Animas pump and am not willing to pay $59.95 a year for Glooko although it would probably be a great solution.
Tidepool would also work with your Omnipod, but Animas is still in the “Coming Soon” category.
