i just got put on insulin with the pump today, but right after the nrse left it seems my sugars have been climbing and now they’re over 200!! What do you think i should do, perhaps increase my basel or my insulin to carb ratio? i’m actually lost with this stuff… based on the amount of insulin i had taken before it appears that i’m not getting enough insulin with the pump… i hope this works itself out… because i’m almost missing shots at this point in time
My short and sweet comment :My advice is to contact your pump nurse for advice asap. There is not enough information here .For instance : are you fasting or have you been fasting to calculate your basal settings ?
hang in there …
Gosh Jill, I don’t have a clue how to help you out here, but I really hope you get it sorted. Someone will be along to advise you, I know it takes a bit of getting used to, good luck and congrats on getting it at long last.
yup, she cut my insulin by 20% and said the pump would absorb better or something… my sugars have been high all day so i have a feeling either my basel or insulin to carb ratio is off, and either one of it or both need to be increased… I called her but she just said to give myself a unit correction… nothing about increasing any of it ugggh
when I put in my blood sugar for my pump it was 12.8… and the pump told me to give myself .5 a unit of correction… thats like next to nothing! haha. so yeah looks like theres going to be alot of tweeking over the next few days… is it safe to change any of the rates myself?
please fellow pumpers tell me it gets better than this haha
haha! she even told me “jill you really dont need the pump…” but i had heard so many great things about it, and thinking it would give me flexibility with exercise and controlling lows… but right now its ■■■■■■■ me off a bit haha. I have 3 months left to be able to return it, so i guess i’ll give it a bit of time and see if things will get better
As I mentioned some time ago responding to one of your discussions : maybe you would be a candidate to wear a Guardian Real -Time ( continuous glucose monitoring system ) with a monitor, that looks like a pump , but is NOT, instead of a pump ??? …googling would give you the info .
