I was just reading this article in The Economist and thought it further validated what we see here every day:

When I see the things that everyone writes about and shares in here and the stats for the site, it´s very rewarding.
We are making history, folks… and we are saving lives every time we befriend someone, every time we answer a question someone else has, every time we share our best tips to take care of our lives with diabetes. 
I have to say Manny, I think you have started something amazing. At the rate this community is growing, this could be the next (niche group) MySpace. Keep up the great work.
