What Diabetes Topics Would You Like to Hear/Learn more about? Master Chat series 2016!

WHAT DIABETES TOPICS WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN/HEAR MORE ABOUT? Student led projects…

It’s that time of the year again: Master Chats! The Master Chat Series is an annual collaboration between TuDiabetes and Columbia University’s Master of Science in Diabetes Education and Management program. This master’s program is offered to clinicians who are currently in or interested in the diabetes field.

As part of a course requirement, students present ‘Master Chats’ on a variety of diabetes related health topics. They will be featured this October and November on TuDiabetes Talks

The students would love your feedback on what the community interests are. I hope you will share your ideas here!

Last years student selected topics
October 21: Complementary and Alternative Medicine for Diabetes Management
October 22: Metformin and its Effects on the Cardiovascular System
October 28: Traveling with Diabetes and Diabetes Burnout and How Your Healthcare Team Can Help
November 4: Gastric Bypass Surgery and Type 2 Diabetes and Diabetes Distress and the Emotional Side of Diabetes

How to navigate a hospital stay with insulin-dependent diabetes. Who’s in charge of insulin dosing and management? Can I keep my pump while in the hospital? How should I prepare if I want to be in charge of all things diabetes? It would be nice to hear from professionals “on the inside” how diabetes is perceived and managed.

Yes! My mother in law has been struggling with the physical and emotional pain these past few weeks over this.
Thank you so much for sharing this thought. Hugs!

@Terry4 thank you!
The hospital/insulin relationship is terrifying sometimes…
I once went into DKA during my first 24 hours of admission because they had me “de pump”. It took the pharmacy order for insulin over 14 hours to get to the floor and by then… DKA.

I learned my lesson! Ugh’
I love the “inside scoop idea” … As in hearing from a variety who mange D hospital stay? MDs, nurses, Pharma, etc?

Thanks Terry!
