I’ve been so sick for the last 3 weeks with anything and everything…hives, stomach flu, and now strep. The only things I want to eat are rice, pasta, etc…things I always ate when I was sick as a kid that were easy on my stomach. Do any of you have suggestions on foods that fit the diet but also taste good when you’re sick? I’m out of ideas and so now I’m just basically starving.
the microwave falx muffin works great. I make a loaf of it with pumpkin meat, almond flour, WPI 5000, and a little flax (flasx meal is super hard on my digestion). Its yummy and has that comfort feel to it. Also, low carb pitas from netrition.com work well too. Ive got a cold right now and like you my go to was carbs when sick. Those two I mentioned have kept my BGs good while sick. I try to eat lots of chicken to help boost my immune system as well.
My little ones have been going through the same thing with croup, thrush, strep, etc. All in a months time. I hope you get well soon!!
I happen to be sick, too. My husband looked up the recipe for One Minute Muffin and made it for me (first time). I didn’t have to figure any insulin…just eat. Also TVP Oatmeal which I have on hand in the frig. I pour cream and Old Fashioned Maple Crest sugar free syrup at 1/4 cup equals 1 gram carb. Total carbs with TVP oatmeal is around 5 carbs. It is really good. I have also had some v-8 juice. I also will eat House Foods Tofu Shirataki fettuccine shaped noodles. 3grams carbs, 2 grams fiber. I parboil according to the directions and add cream or cream cheese, parmesan and sour cream and some quick spices. Microwave a little heat it all.
