Hi all,
I’m new to tudiabetes, I’m 37 I live in Ireland. I hve diabetes T2 for 8 years and I have lived those 8 years in denial I recently was very close to diabetic coma. Now for the past 2 weeks I have slowly started to take control of my food habits. My main problem is breakfast, I don’t know what to eat: cereals, bread shoot my blood sugar to the roof but if I eat something else I’m hungry (or I think I am hungry).
What do you do for breakfast?
Thanks
Fred
Well, sorry to say but I usually start the day with tea and toast. If I am really good I’ll have a fruit salad.
Today I had 2 scrambled eggs with a glass of juice. I used my juicer and juiced an apple, some cantaloupe, cucumber and carrots. I’m testing this juice combo to see how it does with my glucose level.
today I had a bowl of cereal and a banana. I try to eat light so that my BS stays low.
I had an EAS AdvantEDGE Carb control shake. It’s not particularly tasty but it qualifies as breakfast.
I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON.
Low-carb breakfast: 2 eggs, 1/2 c. plain yogurt with sweetener and a handful of berries, coffee with cream and sweetener, 1/c tomato juice.
I had an apple (15 g), a yogurt (La Yogurt brand is really good… and only 15 g), and scrabbled eggs w/ ham. So… it was a pretty low carb breakfast, but I’m full.
I started the morning with a 1/2 bowl of cereal with milk, 1/2 a banana, and a cup of tea.
My 9AM fasting reading was “high” at 123, which upset me, and 118 at 9:05AM when I tested a second time, but I had not fasted a full 12 hours, right? Because at 11:30PM before bed, my reading was 106–so I ate 1T of peanut butter and 1/2 pear.
In a little while, I’m going to eat the other half of the pear with 1T peanut butter, which should get me through morning errands and to lunch.
I eat 1/3 cup (dry) whole oats cooked with walnuts, cinnamon. Sometime I also eat soy sausage or egg beaters and coffee!
oatmeal with nuts, splenda and tiny bit of honey. HONEY!
Every day starts with a good breakfast for me:
3-4 slices of bacon
2 egg cheese omelette (or two eggs any style)
15 g of fruit = e.g. 1/2 large tomatoe, 2 tangerines, 1/2 orange, 1 medium apple.
I’m really careful with grains for breakfast. If I have some, it’s high fiber bread, toasted.
It’s a filling breakfast. I don’t get hungry in the mornings. If you need to add something, add another egg or some fresh greens, like lettuce or spinach.

Fred, I am happy to report , I read your discussion to day , cause today is a GRAND day; yesterday was a challenging day . My new infusion set had hit a problem spot and I was bleeding , instead of delivering insulin and away from home .The good news : I do bring a needle and bottle of insulin along , where ever I go .
My ( usual ) breakfast consists out of : porridge made from scratch , 1/2 apple with peel on , glass of 1 percent milk, plain jogurt ; add flax seed and cinnamon to oatmeal and jogurt , for flavour and fiber etc. , regular coffee …a total of 77 grams of carbs. My BG’s : 7.30 am : 4.6, 10 am : 4.1 , took one Dex 4 glucose pill, followed by my morning walk , 11.15 am : 5.1 …this even impresses ME .Makes up for yesterday
