Manny good ideas!
Test Strips are like gold to me! I think giving them away as a prize is awesome and very helpful, and the option for people to donate them if they are not in need of them is an added bonus! Kudos!!!
It is sometimes hard to “do the right thing” when there are so many opinions on what IS the right thing. Never the less your heart is in the right place and the prize is a great idea!
Good job!
my insurance does not cover my strips 100% and I’ll admit there have been times where money is tight and I have to stretch out the prescription that I do get…I would welcome a few extra strips to make things stretch more…
I also have given away meters, extra lancets etc as I get them for free to people that need them…
There was a type 1 diabetic ON INSULIN that I worked out with at the gym and he did not have a meter because he lost it and could not buy one till next paycheck…I gave him my back up…I seem to get a free meter every 6 months or so from one company or another …I always give them away
I think whoever wins will do the right thing if need be…
We have added this language to the Word In Your Hand page:
If you win any of the prizes and you want to donate yours so that others who cannot afford test strips can benefit from it, we will gladly mail your prize in your name (or anonymously if you prefer) to iPump.org, a non-profit that provides critical, temporary financial assistance and free supplies to diabetics in need of all ages throughout the United States.
We will keep the decision of each of the winners confidential out of respect for their right to decide as they see fit about their prize.
Thanks to everyone who shared their opinion about this matter.
I am arranging the same contest for my young patients and I am asking many companies to sponsor by givings strips and toys for the winners, thanks for all the ideas I borrow to have fun with my patients. They will write with henna, good idea as an alert bracelet at the same time
I only think that it is an Excellent idea to give a necessary item to those who need it but can’t afford it on their own. I’m up for it.
