What Foods Help You regulate?

Question to everyone:

Are there any foods or non-medicinal supplements that you can use to regulate blood sugar?

I am looking for something that would be reactive or proactive.

For example:

  1. What food can be eaten that will metabolize slowly enough that over-correcting or under-correcting blood sugar levels can be minimized. _ any examples of such foods? Proteins Maybe? anything Specific?
  • I think that knowing this could help lows and highs from being too frequent.
  1. I have heard that certain fruits, contain chemicals that lower insulin levels simply by eating them. Grapefruit is one of them.

Hope this clarifies.
Thanks

I like greek yogurt. I mix almond butter, cinnamon and nuts in it. I use about 1//4 -1/5 a cup. It is only about 2-3 carbs.

My observation : low glycemic foods ( apple with peel left on ) contrary to high glycemic foods ( banana ) …possibly someone has covered the topic previously ??

I like plain greek yogurt for its taste and high protein–that is, a few ounces between meals to offset cravings until the next meal, but I’ve been adding a teaspoon of applesauce and 1T of flaxseed to mine. However, methinks the almond butter is the better choice as it contains more protein.

I have been trying to remember to take about a teaspoon full of plain apple cider vinegar before each mail, as I read that in tests it lowers blood sugar. And what do you know?! Something that actually works! I have had wonderful results with it. The spoonful of vinegar can be a little shock going down, but actually it’s not too bad.
