What kind of Peanut Butter do yall use?

We are using Peter pan whipped right now and it is pretty good it has 3 carbs per serving . Was wondering if there is a better one for lower carbs . Thanks

Penut butter is lower carb and I have not had a problem with most any type. I would not get the low fat version because I would suspect that the low fat is compensated with extra sugar. Currently I am eating Jif. I often use a dual wave bolus on my pump for penut butter as the protein and fat seem to hit me a little later and slower (from the protein and fat). I will often take 20% of the bolus (for the PB) extended over a half hour and it works really well for me.

My local supermarket has a health food department that has a peanut butter machine. You grind your own, so you know there is nothing but peanuts in it. I can also buy Adams, which is only peanuts, and Costco's Kirkland brand has only peanuts. I think Peter Pan adds sugar, doesn't it? Of course the peanuts have their own carb.

Yes Peter pan whipped has 3 grams of sugar it is the lowest my mom has found . I love PB and banana sandwhichs

I love peanut butter. Always have. But I only want peanuts. The ingredients should only be peanuts and salt. No hydrgenatesd oils that are in ALL of the major brands. This goes back way beyond my D. Adams is one most easily found. There are other brands in the natural food sections, but they are usually more expensive. Trader Joe's has a number of options, salted, no salt and raw. The ones at TJ also are about the least expensive. The reason for the hydrogenated oils is so the oil will not separate at room temp. You need to stir the true peanut butter and keep it in the fridge. The flavor is better and there is no sugar or preservatives. TJ also has other nut butters like hazelnut, sunflower and almond which you might like. Almond has even less carbs.

Is adams good and does the sunflower one taste good ? does it taste anything like Peanut Butter ?

Adams is good. It was the only one around for years. I prefer the TJ brand now. This type of pb will taste a bit different and they all have a little different flavor based on type of peanut and roast that they use. The TJ brand also has a smoother texture than Adams and the type you grind yourself. I haven't tried the sunflower, but I doubt it tastes like pb. I do buy the almond butter once in a while and it is quite tasty.

I'm with the others on preferring my nut butter all natural. But I much prefer other nuts to peanut such as almond, cashew, hazlenut and macadamia. They are more expensive but when you get used to them you don't want to taste the regular brands like Jiff or Skippy. I also have found the carbs very low impact on my blood sugar and regularly eat more than I bolus for ...now my waistline? That's a whole other story!

We don’t have a TJ around here my mom said have y’all tasted the IM healthy soy

Haven't tried that, but I can't eat most soy products. Litterally, one spoonful of something like that would put me down for at least one day almost immediately. I know TJ is not everywhere, but they have some great products for D. You live in the peanut zone of the country. I would think that with a little shopping you could find something at least as good. You may even be able to buy peanuts cheaply enough in your area that making your own could be a great option. Its easy to make, but it is not cost effective here in Seattle.

Skippy Natural has 6 gms of carb no hydrogenated oils and doesn't need to be refrigerated. Plus it tastes great

I use all natural nut butters as well. I am a fan of almond butter. Natural is also much more heart friendly, I also drain 1/2 or more of the natural oils. Trader Joe's is great and very cost friendly when it comes to almond butter etc.

I have tried the whipped Peanut butter but when you spread it on something the air comes out and it shrinks so I would end up using about twice as much so it was really about the same carbs as the reg creamy PB (6g).

Ugh don't like it much

I love peanut butter and have tried a lot of natural peanut butters and it all taste like wall paper paste and it is very expensive. So I've decided just to stick with Peter Pan. I'll risk it and you can't beat 6 carbs (I don't subtract fiber).

Jim I agree with that we just got some planters and it has 6 grams also with 3 of that from sugar and it is better then the whipped . I think I could eat the whole jar at a time LOL
Doris I cant believe you dont like PB

I'm a nut for peanut butter (ha ha). Because I can put a serious hurtin' on a jar of the stuff in one sitting I go for any kind with no sugar... just peanuts.

Reading this, I had to go to the kitchen for a hit. I eat Skippy, right out of the jar. According to the label, one serving is 2 Tbsp. I assume that means tablespoon. Each serving contains 7 grams of carbs. this is for Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter. I do know the low-fat Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter is twice the carbs per serving. My 88 year old mother, who is as diabetic as I am, believes the low fat is better. I'm not buying it.

We do Skippy too. ATK rated it the best and it works out well, doesn't require refrigertion or stirring or anything like that. I switched from lunch meat to peanut butter sandwiches at lunch last year, thinking it'd help fuel the running habit and like it a lot. We went hiking at Torrey Pines, CA last year and had peanut butter and MrsAcidRock and junior both agreed they felt energized from them. Maybe it was psychosomatic but I think it's good stuff!
