i have just been recently diagnosed with type 1 a little over 3 months ago. i just got my new bloodwork back and my ac1 is 15!!! im freaking out! thats so high how am i not in a coma
That is bad, although I managed a 16,3 without any comas. A couple of questions: Does your average blood sugar match your a1c? What kind of insulin do you take and do you count carbs? That a1c sounds like you’re completely uncontrolled.
Pay more attention to your blood sugar readings and get those down. This A1c includes very early days with diabetes. When you test with a meter, are you seeing your numbers getting better?
Sounds like you need some insulin adjustments. I was diagnosed in 1970 so don’t have a clue as to how one’s A1C should be at this point after diagnosis. My last one was 7.6 and I’m always surpised that it turns out that low. I’m working at getting it back under 7. Please keep working at it.
By the way - which methodology is used in your countries for A1c measure? On the basis of your numbers I guess that you’re not using a few years old methodology recommended by IFC, which gives lower numbers. In Czech Republic (where I live) we use this - for comparison, A1c <4.5 is denoted as great value. I’m last 2 years (on pump) in range 4.8-5.0
my last a1c for this year, because the test cost 600 dollars, was 7.8. Not as bad as i thought. Honestly i think i can go without the a1c when it cost so freaking much.
