WolframAlpha changes the way we calculate carbs

Good morning, first post here and new to the site.

I’m not too sure how many have already heard, but there’s a new (and very interesting) site: http://www.wolframalpha.com

They’re basically trying to make as much data as possible computable by anyone.

What does this mean? Instant and very precise carb counts for your meals.

Simply enter your ingredients for your meal, like:

“16oz coffee + 1 cup oatmeal + tablespoon brown sugar + 1/4 cup raisins” (my breakfast this morning).

And WolframAlpha returns a custom nutrition label made up of the ingredients you told it.

Try for yourself, it’s truly a game changer in my opinion in the world of diabetes; no more trying to add carbs together from all the nutrition labels as you put meals together.

Good luck and spread the word!

OMG! This is unbelievable… I am really impressed with this.

Thanks for sharing the information, Matthew!

I tried the meal as you entered it above, and this is the nutrition fact label it gave me:

Hmm. I can’t get it to process more than a very simple recipe.

Recipematic, on the other hand, works great!

LOL… sounds like they need to do some more work, eh?

I will try Recipematic. Wasn’t familiar with it.

Both very cool. Bookmarked them both. Thanks.

Here’s another one: http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php

Easy to plug in ingredients & get a nutrition breakdown. I have entered ingredients not in their database, but most are there.

Like this site because it allows you to enter an individual serving from a recipe.
