Working to avoid the spikes---2 other considerations

Hi
Thanks for your comments on dealing with bs spikes and carbs, etc

Apparently, I need to put even more effort into matching carbs to insulin. When I got a CGM I think I relaxed a bit and acted as though it would enable me to keep great Bs #s.

There are 2 things that I am doing that may help with these highs
#1 I had some blood work done recently and it showed no Chromium at all and so am taking 200mcg 2 to 3 times a day

#2 I have read in a few places about having infection in gums or teeth can cause bs to be high. Well, just was told that I have a chronic infection in my gum where a root canal was done---an infection started a few years ago because of a breakdown in the tooth---or something. Anyways, I need to have the tooth removed and a post put there. I was trying to avoid the $3000 dollar bill but will be doing that in a few weeks.

any infection can/will raise bs.

NEVER IGNORE AN INFECTION
ANY KIND
ANYWHERE ON YOUR BODY
AS A DIABETIC

I second Shoshana. Infections are bad news for anyone, because ANY infection, no matter how trivial it may start out, can turn on a dime and become something really nasty and dangerous. That's twice as true for us.
