Yay for Friday

My BS was 153 when I got up this morning. What did my CGM say? 125. NOT happy about that.

It’s extremely unusual for me to be high in the morning. According to my CGM trends, it gradually rose throughout the night, and was a steady line in the 2 hours or so before I got up.

So who knows. I did a correction bolus, calibrated the CGM, and went to exercise. While exercising, I hit a nasty spike. CGM read up to 175, so I likely hit over 200 in reality. I was pretty pissed to have my workout interrupted by bad BS, plus I could feel it in my mouth (sugar mouth!).

Toward the end of the workout though, it started falling. By the time I ate breakfast, I was 85 by my meter and my CGM had a one-arrow downward trend.

I’m still falling a bit now and my CGM actually says 51. But I checked with my meter and I’m 62. Don’t feel it at all, and I really think I’m functioning completely normal, so it must be on the way back up. Who knows though. I rarely feel any kind of low when I’m in the 60s.

Actually, check that, CGM says I’m 44. Interesting. I’m only a little over a day into a new sensor, and have noticed that the first day to two days can be a bit wonky.

Oh well, perhaps I will be having my mid-morning snack an hour early today! Not in the mood for some nasty, chalky glucose tabs.

Happy Friday. Here’s to hoping I start my period so my BS can be sane again by next week. XD

Good Morning.
Your CGM is going to take a bit to catch up after a up or down arrow. Also is the cannula comes out a little you will start to get constant low readings.
I adjust the readings with calibrations. Lets say my CGM is reading on average 7% lower then I enter a BG 7% higher. But never the first 24 hours cause it is wacky the first days. My CGM readings have so much to do with where my CGM is. After a low the CGM will take longer to catch up because your body sends that sugar to your Central nervous system and brain not tissue. When bringing down a high BG your CGM will take longer to catch up because it glucose will come out of your blood first. That is why it seems to match up better when BG is consistent.
make sense?

I hope I start my period soon too, because my sugars have been a little crazy lately.

just a little yay for friday joke.

Haha. Oh, Dino. XD

Laura, very interesting the detailed explanation on why it takes longer to catch up! Good to know! I’ve noticed it’s like that for sure, and usually can figure out where my BG is in relation to the CGM trends. Most of the time when the CGM is running a steady line, my meter is right on with it. That morning was frustrating though because it just wasn’t. Oh well, I’m further into the sensor now though, and this weekend it’s been nice to me!
