A wonderful treat

Yes, I know this should probably go under a food section or eating section…but I am desperate and need help. I am “addicted” to frappacinno’s, especially chocolate. So I am looking for a great recipe for them that is delicious, and well within my parameters of 100 carbs a day. The only ones I can find, or even adapt are abut 30 carbs, and I can’t just have one drink, and call that a meal. So if you have a recipe, please PM me or post it here, and we’ll all share. Oh, I am a type II, controlled by med, Janumet and Amaryl, diet and exercise. I have lost 60+ lbs, and my last A1C was 6.1…heading to lower than 5 this next time…if I can find a frappe recipe so I don’t have to give up eating for my “addiction”.

Did you google ‘low carb Frappuccino’? There were a few interesting-looking posts, some with only 10 carbs each.

I hear where you’re coming from. Hot and humid afternoon, walking by the Starbucks, want a Frapucinno. I limit myself to one, or maybe two, a year.

Requires a massive insulin dose to take care of it though :frowning:

Cathy, don’t know if this counts as a frappucino or if it would satify you. I have a pod coffee machine. I make double coffee, STRONG. I add 2 squares of Lindt 85% dark chocolate (4 cho total) to the hot coffee. It will melt with a little stirring. I add 1/3 heavy cream to however much coffee I have (virtually no cho) and whiz up in my blender with ice and whatever sweetener you like, to taste. You could use Torani SF syrup (they are great) instead of the chocolate and sweetener. Adds a little carbs but not much. Let me know if you like

The recipes all sound good…I’ll have to copy them all. I swore to myself that the one I had today was the last…unless I got a 4.something on my A1C in August. I’m out of control in this.

check out this site, the first recipe has heavy whipping cream in it, and only 6 carbs for 20 ounces. It could save me this summer…just to play with it…add ice and carob powder or cocoa??? hmmmmm

You should try getting a French press! Best coffee ever!

Not sure these drinks people are talking about have much to do with coffee, AR. Sound more like dessert to me.

I agree about the french press. I use it to make cold brewed coffee during the warm times. Cold brew rocks!!!

Well, that’s true Zoe, but it’s so smooth it can pass for dessert and, @ zero carbs, it’s a lot easier to work into a strategy!

Guess I’m just a purist. I like strong espresso with a bit of foam. No syrups, creams, flavors etc.

The best zero carb syrups I’ve found are made by Monin. Far, far better than Da Vinci or Torino, which taste like flavored water. Their chocolate & caramel are fabulous. Some strong coffee, heavy cream & zero carb syrup, you’ve got a frappuccino with only a few carbs from the cream.

(Not for coffee of course, but Monin blackberry syrup smells & tastes like the real thing.)

Thanks Gerri, I’ll have to try them. Not totally thrilled with Torani but they’re the best I’ve found so far.

Monin is thicker than Torino or Da Vinci (but not as thick sugary syrup) & has no funky after taste. A lot more flavor. I had to use a lot of Torino & Da Vinci to get any flavor & then it was too sweet.

Just ordered some dark chocolate. No funky aftertaste sounds wonderful. Thanks again to the LC food maven

Hope you like it! Wish their chocolate came in gallon size.

A cup of Folgers suits me just fine…No carbs and I drink it all day long.

Careful on the chocolate syrups – some of them have sugar alcohols in them, which work on my system like taking an entire box of Ex-Lax. NOT fun.

Chocolate flavor extract added to strong coffee blended with a little Splenda, some heavy cream and ice sounds like the closest to the real thing with no fear of spending the rest of the day in the loo. I like the idea of melting just a smidge of dark chocolate, too, as long as the carbs are kept to a dull roar.

I can’t have caffeine either (lucky me) so my choices are now severely limited at Starbucks – because if I can’t have a decaf mocha, a mocha frapp or a seasonal eggnog decaf latte, what’s the point? Black decaf coffee with Splenda is not going to get me through their door unless I’m there to meet a tall, dark and handsome man. (!!!)

You’ve inspired me to work on my own recipe for this summer. I hate that three-day craving thing where I have an itch for something and no way to scratch it. I have a French press so I can make yummy, strong decaf for my home experimenting.

Heck, maybe I could toss in some protein powder and call it breakfast.

Malitol doesn’t do to me what it does to you Jean, but I can clear a room for a few hours after injesting it. I live alone and the dogs don’t care

I mentioned cold brewed coffee above. It is THE best for any iced drinks. Virtually no acid, and it keeps in the fridge for 10 days or so with no change in flavor, ready to dilute to your taste. Google it for more info, but you don’t really need a gadget; as I said I use a french press. You can use any container and a strainer.

Oh, I am such a coffee snob!! LOL I saw a bumper sticker that said ‘Just give me the coffee and no one will get hurt’. Def need one of those

I forgot about cold brewed coffee. Much less acidic – great idea for my iffy tummy.

Thanks for reminding me!
