Just started my pump about 5 hours ago. It was going fantastic until I had a low, and then the cannula filled with blood. I changed infusion sets successfully (only took two tries) and am now nervously waiting to see if the darn thing is actually working.
I also didn't realize that when I ordered a pink ping, everything that came with it would be pink- LOL.
At first when things go wrong and you don't know what to do it can get overwhelming...but you learn from your mistakes and figure things out..it does get easier! :) I've had my pump for almost 2 months and I already feel like an old pro....well most of the time lol good luck with it! :)
I think the worst part is that they won't let me correct unless my BG is over 250. I grossly mis-estimated my carbs last night and wound up at 216 prior to bed and just fell asleep as soon as I sat on the couch to watch TV. I know they have to get everything set right, but I definitely have a food hangover this morning. :/
Over 250??? Why on earth? Do you have a starting correction ratio set up? This is not medical advice, but I sure as hell wouldn't NOT correct at 250! What is the rational for that?
I know... they're trying to get my basal set first, and told me to stop correcting unless my BG is over 250 because I have had a few weird lows. I am having to go through the Animas BG management team to get the pump set up. I start basal testing tomorrow. I kinda feel like I could handle this on my own. But I just have to jump through a few hoops for a few weeks. On the bright side- my GP and CDE didn't make me go back to that endo office.
It got up to 243 today and I felt horrible- I went ahead and corrected because there is no sense in feeling like crap all day long. I will just tell her when I send my numbers tomorrow morning.
